Based on other projects that have been approved I am fairly sure the EIA is just a box ticking office, so that Government can claim there will be no environmental issues. Anyone can see a project such as this is not environmentally friendly. Hope the jobs will be worth it.
We've had this sort of discussion before. You have Hamas which ruled in Gaza, whose sole aim is the destruction of Israel. They attacked and Israel attacked back. Have Israel gone too far, yes, however Hamas still has a number of their people hostage and until they get them back they are unlikely to stop. Why does Hamas not give them back? And i know for you Israel deserves to be gone and you will be happy with that outcome, however the only way that will happen is through their complete destruction and the death of millions.
Some of the world stands with Palestine and some with Israel, and then the rest who don't have a side. Just because you chose one doesn't mean the whole world does.
The area is a dump and has been for a while. But i also don't see the vendors make any effort in clearing it up. Most bars and restaurants around the island have to provide their own bathrooms and keep them clean. Not at Arawak (and Potters) and yet there is no effort form the vendors to keep it clean. Rather just expect Government to do it for them. As sickened as said it is also the fault of the police and the truck drivers. There is no way i should have to hear trucks from miles away and see them belching fumes all over the place. But even though its not allowed nothing happens. And as This is ours says they should never have allowed the area to grow past the port going east. Soo the dump will go from Arawak to Western Esplanade.
The only reports the government gives out are ones that show what they want. No one is allowed to question them and no one can look at the information to see if what they say is correct. As such most people are now of the 'i'll believe it when i see it" , and until these things actually happen they do not believe as they do not trust the Government.
At least the roads will be safe from them for a while then. They complain but don't do anything to grow their business. If they were smart they would have an UBER style app which we all could use. Many Bahamians would then actually use them. But all they really want is that run form airport to hotel

The PLP was out west, after all the land was bought up by PLP people. They were very angry at Ingram for not moving the port for their benefit.
