This has been going on for months if not years. This week they made it even worse. Thought the new law was you couldn't clear land without an EIA. So how is this happeneing?
Thats the cost for driving a car. Now add in the increase in food and anything else that companies will charge due to their increased costs. And then the increase in BPL as well. Hopefully won't be too bad but it could be
What risk is Goldman taking? None, so this doesn't say anything about investor wanting to reduce exposure to our Govt. If we fail to pay they get $239 million in treasury bonds. So they may be thinking that we will fail. Or the amount in fees we are paying them is more then interest they would have earned on cash so its a win for them. Either way they will win.
Theres not much the Govt can do as things have gotten worse at BPL. If they don't allow the increase then BPL will need much more money which means Govt will need to tax more. If they do then Bahamians will be in uproar. But no one will blame the actual people responsible. Those in power for the last 25 years who took BPL from being a money making entity to a massive cash loss. And many of those people are in charge now so i don't hold out much hope of anything correct being done.
They are only doing the travel visa for the information they get from it. They don't have the brains to realize there are other ways of getting that information.
But you still have not said how much Abaco gets back from Nassau. The schools, roads, docks, clinics, airport, BPL ( i think that plant was $200 million which even at the top rate of Real property would be 3,333 homes). Sure Abaco brings more in then others, but is it a net beneficiary or a contributor?
Its not illegal to mark up VAT as you can mark up items however you want (except price control). It is silly however as you can claim the VAT back (if you are VAT registered) and effectively you are making your price higher then it should be, which a competitor should be able to undercharge. Now if you are not a VAT registrant then you would markup VAT as you are not getting it back. But then you aren't charging VAT either (and you should only be doing about $100,000 a year in sales).
All of them? Anyway my point is just showing how hypocritical using the bible to suit peoples views are. If we were to do that we would have hourly stoning's of all the adulterers here.
