The real question is what should a living wage be able to get. The UB study which said it should be a lot larger then $250 was based on the family head being the sole worker with 2 kids. IN reality there could be two people working which then reduces the living wage amount per person. Also, of course the minimum wage should go up, however there needs to also be an increase in productivity. If the person is contributing the same to the company as before where is the company to make that additional money?

It was a budget like all others. Remind us about the state we are in then increase expenditure and hope that revenue will increase more then those expenditure increases. Then if in a couple of years that hasn't happened, hope you can blame a storm or something else as to why not. And yes i know there are increases (like Real property), but those are not going to be enough to offset the expenditure increases.

if this is the case then arrest those who did it and fire them. Stop coming to the public with all these stories and then nothing happens.

Maybe many of those businesses have gone under and are no longer operating. Yes they should have notified Inland revenue, but they may not have known so that's OK (at least it is per new MP's who haven't declared as they are meant to, so that should go across all aspects of life here).
Aside from the above at a guess we will never hear of any company or person being taken to court for these unpaid items, so i expect deals will be made. Unless of course that person happens to have annoyed someone in Govt and then it will be front page news.

Yet again, both parties showing why there are issues with our country. Situations like this should only be dealt with by independent bodies. no politician should be able to approve someone to go on work scheme. Only the independent body which should be given whatever criteria is necessary to make their decision.
