"Allow Bahamians to express their opinions on what should be done to combat illegal activities." This is a great initiative. I always looked up Dr. Allen as one of the more sincere social leaders of our country. But when people express their opinions on what should be done, who is listening? The raw reality is that criminals are the ones who are leading this country. How can you get criminals to listen to advise on combatting crimes of which they themselves are the perpetrators?
And that is the Christian thing to do. So why don't you and Pastor Woods take a more practical approach and form some type of mission that would assist in housing and feeding these little darlings when their parents are caught. Or better yet form an adoption agency to take in these children. Even better, stop stirring the pot with misinformation. No one is mistreating children. The officers simply took children with them that were left behind when their parents ran to evade officers. So the real perpetrators here are really the parents. They are the ones that should be charge with child endangerment
If ya ask me though, this looks more like a promotion for the Bahama Island Baptist Association’s 49th annual session rather than a press release for a group of caring people. Gatta fill dem offering plates I guess.
I think people are beginning to see behind the guise of the Haitian community. They love to paint this picture of them being the victims and everyone else is the bad guy. Pratt is right on target with this one. These leeches have been popping out children like mad with the misconception that their offspring will allow them some footing in the Bahamas. I have witnessed adults running and leaving children to fend for themselves. These people should be charged with child endangerment.
What really exacerbates the problem is the fact that the Haitian Ambassador to the Bahamas and other officials of Haiti are doing absolutely nothing to help improve their people's plight. My God! Form some kind of mission to look after the children of the illegals that were captured-Educate your people about the hardship that comes with having many children in other people country. Introduce some form of contraceptive to your people! Don't just stand around and complain when you see the Bahamas begin making a move to protects its sovereignty. I mean at some point you have to get up and notice something must be amiss if every country in the region are beginning to complain about your people.
The Bahamas archaic lawmakers are too busy lining their pockets to even care about what impact these new regulations will have on the Bahamas . These old fogies in power do not have a clue about the new breed of tourists who seek other recreational activities other than water slides and rude workers. The world around our sandbox is changing rapidly and people are choosing to save money by traveling within their own borders for vacation.
The greatest weapon we can use to protest this crap parade is by simply boycotting it. Bahamians need to simply not show up. I don't expect that to happen though cause we talk Christianity on one side of our mouth and do the opposite on the other. I am also in the entertainment industry. I can't even begin to express my disgust with leaders of this country and their total disregard for our culture. The argument someone brought to me was that every other country in the Caribbean has a carnival so why not the Bahamas.
I have traveled throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. The one thing that stands out in each of these countries is their native music. You will never hear reggae or rap playing in the streets of Columbia. You know you're gonna be bombarded with reggae music as soon as you step off the plane or ship in Jamaica. But when you arrive in the Bahamas you are immediately confused about what things are indigenous and what things are not.
I am sorry thoughtful, but your insight into the descendants of slave and how we are all from Africa, yadda, yadda, yadda, is irrelevant to this situation. Save all of that bullshit for poetry night. Instead of boring us with black history, why not bring something meaningful to the table by offering suggestions on how to resolve this illegal immigration mess that the Bahamas faces. Meaningful and practical suggestions that is.
This shouldn't even be a black or white issue. We love to compare ourselves to other people and other countries every time some scandal is brought to the forefront. The only issue here is someone needs to resign. And sure we gat crooked people that are black, white, yellow and brown. What is important is that whenever these people commit crimes in other countries they are punished in some form or the other. In the Bahamas they are promoted and they get even more perks. Incidentally, I am black and I would trust doing business with a 'white' Bahamian anyway over a black one.
