I am so embarrassed when I hear Union leaders speak like this. You cannot force an employer/ company to employ persons to the company's detriment. Be reasonable, companies are here to make a profit. Stop trying to hold these companies hostage by use of threats. If persons have to be let go so that the company thrives and others remain employed that is just how it is. The Bahamas government should practice this policy and let go of employees and holdings that are not profitable or in the best interest of the bottom-line. Please Union leaders stop trying to prove that you are earning your inflated salaries along with perks such as company cars, phones, laptops, travel and expenses by spewing rubbish to your members and the media.
I had to reread that statement again just to make sure I read it correctly. I could be wrong but I do not think foreigners or Bahamians alike trust anything that the Bahamian government is a part of. Government involvement in Grand Bahamas has not been promising in the past. I hope the prime minister has a better solution and will not state the obvious that something went wrong with Freeport's economy. The unemployed and those who have lost their homes have known that for awhile. Please don't tell me he is just playing catch up. Give concrete solutions for help right now and then further along.
This is a rather unfortunate series of events. I pray they find the gentleman swiftly and in good health. Those who attacked him are a disgrace. This is not how we treat our elderly. I hope the police force, family and neighbors can get together and properly search the field. This is also where the community can help.
Am I the only one who thought of the movie series The Purge when they read or heard about this? I guess his next suggestion would be 24 hours where murder is legal and geared towards the poor. I understand what he is trying to say but there has to be a better suggestion. Better educating of males and females about sex and its repercussions. Provide more pamphlets and free birth control items at clinics and even in the workplace about planned parenting. Parents themselves are also needed in order to set a better example and speak to their kids especially teenagers on being transparent but to protect themselves. There is a lot more we can do before sterilization legislature is passed or even discussed towards females and males alike.
The sad thing is free or not birth control pills are under $5 a prescription. That is cheaper than pampers, bottles and I won't even mention educating a child.
