My stepdaughter has a foreign mother and has to apply for citizenship when she turns 18. My husband is a Bahamian. It is the way it is even though many Bahamian text books used to say if your father was a Bahamian so are you. They have since been edited.
So in essence you are saying, allow the wiser Bahamian men to marry whomever they wish, as they are able to ascertain that the foreign women that pursue them, do so from a sense of love for them. On the other hand, the Bahamian women who gave birth to these Bahamian men, raised these men, own businesses, are professors, doctors and lawyers to name a few are just too stupid, naïve, gullible and desperate for a man that they should be protected for their own good by being denied the rights that Bahamian men have. I feel so much better with that kind of thinking expressed repeatedly in print, in the media and in conversations.By the way my comments are facetious at best. This kind of thinking shows exactly why we need to end gender discrimination. Women suffer as well as children suffer in the long run. Yes, women and children who should be really protected by our men.
I would be glad to fly Bahamas Air, but unfortunately they do not have daily flights to North Eleuthera. Some times if they have a flight here that morning there will not be a return flight for that day. Sad that in this day and time, our major flag carriers does not travel here regularly while the two competitors with their 19 sweaters, travel here 3 times a day and 7 days a week. Bahamas Air is a prehistoric behemoth that should have been extinct years ago, but our government keeps pumping the life blood of money we do not have into it. Find a way to make a profit of the thing. Government likes to bring in consultants and analysts. Have them analyze a better business model and a way for BA to finally have a return on investment. Questions: Do our members of Parliament fly BA free or discounted? Are they allowed these perks when traveling on government business only or any time?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Education as well as my MBA. The only time Baha Mar even bothered to contact me, was when I applied for a position via a link the American university I obtained my MBA from sent me. Don't get me wrong, I am glad they didn't follow up after I told them I lived on an Out Island and needed a few days to arrange my travel to Nassau. I know what it is like as an educator to see students fail, but I know what it is as a qualified person when your credentials are overlooked ( I have applied to BTC, and other private and government facilities). I personally feel we grant more of an advantage to foreigners in some regards. I pray that when we do come across qualified Bahamian professionals, we at least interview them first before we get the work permits signed to bring in someone else. Nonetheless I am blessed to be gainfully employed in the meanwhile.
I agree with Birdie. When you take out the GGL you and/or your guarantor promise to repay. I know as I am a recipient. BOB also gave me a very long time ( 15 years) to repay and low monthly payments that are deducted from my salary. Yes things are tough and many may not be as fortunate, but go on in and try to pay something. Regardless if you are rich or poor, all should have to repay. People do not run from your loans, speak to the loan officers and try to find a reasonable payment plan. Let us not justify stealing and dishonesty.
I just hope other countries go out of their way to use their resources and jail persons trying to enter The Bahamas illegally, like we are doing for the US. It is amazing they are such a risk to our country and were released on their on and we do not know their exact location. We were to release them at the airport of their country of citizenship. I guess we want to arrest them again and feed and shelter them for 3 more years.
Firstly, thank God the baby was returned safely. Secondly you left a HONDA running in Nassau? Thirdly and most importantly both parents left the baby in the car instead of one parent staying inside? I am flabbergasted. WOW!
Well its about time. Did I read correctly that there will be daily flights on Jet Blue from Washington here until May 3rd, but the actual event is from My 5th- 7th? We are happy for the flight, but how does this help with getting persons here for the festival if the daily flights will not be available when Carnival starts? It is amazing how they try to distract us with smoke and mirrors.
So they were trying to leave, albeit illegally, but we detained them. Why? So we can board them at the country's expense, run the risk of the Zika virus (not stereotyping and saying they have it) and then we deport them at our further expense. Even the US Coast guard returned them to us. This speakers volumes.
