To simply put it Property owners should not be allowed to let derelict & abandoned buildings sit up for more than 10 years. After 5 years they should be given a warning and inquiry for redevelopment. At the 10th year there should be a requirement of either forced sale(at market price), enactment of a redevelopment, or a fine.

It is especially crucial for downtown where have a bunch of historic building rotting away and eventually collapsing or burning down, yet the owner receive no penalty. I also think that the excuse for not redeveloping to residential is poor because there are plenty of cities that don't build 8-10 story building yet are home to millions. For example Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona which have about 6-7 story building generally. So there is no need for our building code to raise, rather it seems that people should be held accountable for public hazards.

The only thing that is happening is the rotting and slow demolition of our historic city, at the hands of individuals who are careless.

I swear, if they set up on UB campus in the Nursing facilities, it will not only offer visual aide/practice for medical students, it would always be packed with people of different blood types. Furthermore, the university can organize a yearly event for a blood drive, encouraging everyone to give at least once..

Um, I think the Victims loved ones have layed these case closed however this crooked government refuses to act. We really need a department that vets action's by government/public employees. Whether its a whole separate department or a legally mandated separated division of the RBPF. This level of no oversight is getting out of hand, in fact its just criminal.

Until we have police cameras we will never know for sure. Hopefully, they also commit to train police with proper non-lethal weaponry such as pepper spary, pepper balls, tasers, rubber bullets, flash stun devices and etc.

However, I must note that the mother's comment(at least in this context) seem confusing it seems like she asserts that her child was afraid of police but then justifies that he could never be violent toward or be in possession of lethal weaponry. She then seems to double down that her son's fear of police was a healthy and good mindset even tho it may have been what killed him(because he ran).

Because as far as I know if you believe you must run from the Police you either have an aversion for the law/authority, something to hide, or past police related trauma (this is reason is excusable for the son, not the mother). Police most likely ain't gonna chase somebody who doesn't run and they are probably less likely to be killed.

So unless the Police executed the young man point blank, committing a grievous tragedy, he most likely ran causing the police to chase him and then he got cornered/stopped where he was shot.
If he did run then its quite likely he was armed, as he would probably not stop his escape to turn round and engage the police. His body position, and blood droppage should confirm the story.
Fingerprints will prove if the gun is his or planted.
Ballistics can be used as additional evidence for overkill/2nd degree murder or self defence.

That's true and all but is this same logic reciprocated the other way. You don't have to be a Pindling era Politicians/Civil Servant to be capable to enlist in government and pass good policy.
Consequentially, we seem to have folks who want to pass Pindling era policy in the 21st century, hence we see stagnation and lack of new/original ideas in government.

I think PMH should be given its own director who should be accountable for running the Hospital and accounting for things like this. If PMH has one already they should be front and center of occurrences such as this.

The Government runs agencies and SOE's yet there is no accountability from its management.

I'm pretty sure maternity leave is 6 months in the Bahamas. Maybe its because she has only been with her employment for under 1 year, which (don't quote me on the) I believe reduces the time allotted.

Perhaps, she just decided to return to work early which I agree is unwise.

You know instead of stating the absolute obvious, he could be proposing policy to reform work permits. So that any work permit given out requires a Bahamian/Permanent Resident sponsor and a record of which Bahamian Immigration Official approved the Permit, this way you can crack down on fraudulent permits.
