heard Cuba is planning to cut its ties with the Bahamas over LGBT as well, however reality is, that the LGBT tourist market is very attractive. I am not talking about the gay cruises, I am talking about the high end LGBT tourist market. From that perspective Fred M. is a good ambassador for the Bahamas.

oh yes, hundreds of viable options.(I) introduce a flat tax for residents non doms (how about 50k GBPs per head p.a.), (ii) introduce an income tax, (iii) introduce a luxury tax for cars, houses above a certain threshold,, (iv) establish an estate zoning with higher property tax, (v) introduce economic citizenship (e.g. with no right to vote in the first five years) for USD 2,0 Mio per pop, (vi) allow foreigners to work in the Bahamas at a high price for a work permit, (vi) create investor visas with investments in crucial sectors (similar to EB5 in the US) that must at least provide 10 jobs for Bahamians, etc. come on guys and girls, no rocket science. look around what other nations do....

why did catholic priests abuse young boys?

High time we tax the churches and the religious leaders. plus add a luxury tax on planes, Mercedes, expensive houses of the religious leaders. They have invented their Ponzi scheme a long time ago and are no defending it. Obviously does not count for all, but dropping a few dollars in church ending up in pastors pocket vs. gambling at webshop - not much difference.

Well it is because until recently the webshops were able to launder the money in the usual channels (paying people to set up personal accounts, paying bills in cash, etc.). it seems their turn over has gotten too large to do that in an efficient way and now they tried to get the money into the banking system on a whole sale approach. Yes the Gov of the Central Bank is the last bastion. Would not be surprised if she were replaced soon exactly bcz of her resistance.

Don't really understand what is complex about that. There are rules that bind everybody. So what's complicated? The Bahamas is the only country on the planet where every 2nd citizen is in public transportation (cab or jitney). Why? So the government can cash in some license fees and the drivers get a break on the duty. Ridiculous. And if a government does the wrong thing, it gets voted out by all the cab drivers. Jitneys and Cabs are filthy, old and I betcha the breaks don't work. Wonder whether tourist are accepting this as part of the Bahamian tourist experience.

well the main reason that money is invested in the Bahamas is very simply because you can not wire that money nowhere else. Believe me if it was possible, it would be done. Same as the old theme when Carlos Lehder was in charge of the Bahamian economy. Reality is that webshops don't create more money in the economy, they are not producing, it is just a cheap way for web shop owners to refinance their economic activities.

If the Bahamas was smart they would introduce the USD as its currency. Obviously there would be some capital flight (which is happening already anyway), however we could finally stop the guessing game, why in the world ONE BSD should have the same value as a USD.
