don't overthink. He leaves for personal and ethical reasons. What sounds heroic is very simple, he was offered a very lucrative mandate by some private individual or corporation, that was specifically targeting him to be the lawyer bcz of his closeness to the decision makers in this country, but taking on the mandate while being a member of the Cabinet would have put him into hot water. So the ethical reason will be nothing more or less than a substantial conflict of interest, and the Bahamian he is, he choses money over glory (for now). Not to worry, the revolving door is always open in the Bahamas.
you have a point. albeit I don't think Freddy would ask for cash, rather a photo op. The people asking for cash are in the administration, and that is something Freddy needs to own and correct.
having this said though, I was personally involved in the organization of a similar clinic and we did apply for waivers, and the immigration office just decided to kill the project by procrastination (in all fairness to Mitchell, that was under the reign of his predecessor). You always lose in the Bahamas if a trade union or special interest group goes against you.
right decision, what you safe in taxes you lose easily in fees, legal costs, higher cost of living, unrealistic rent, import duties on pencils and waste bins, loss due to unreliable internet, phone services, loss due to power outages, loss due to governmental working attitude, corruption.

you "just obey the laws of the country the same as" Bahamians obey the laws of the Bahamas? or are you holding foreigners to a higher standard?
