@emac you see that's the thing. Evil always triumphs while we good people sit on the sidelines. Or fail to do even do the good while waiting for the perfect. You have to start somewhere and i just happen to think that starting with a recognition of the equal humanity of all is a good start.
sheeprunner12- i was thinking the same thing- lol. The Trump references? Really? What conservative republican donor is he courting in Lyford? But since politicians have no shame- I am sure he will be on the ticket come election.
@emac my problem is this. Why wait for the utopia moment when corruption is no more, and politicians are honest, moral and visionary and the public service is a well running machine, allergic to corruption- to bring equal rights to women and men? You see that day ain't coming too soon. My grandpa taught me to NEVER ever WAIT to do what's right. So as the old people used to say- I don't care if school keep or scholars attend, I will be voting a straight YES on Tuesday. I agree with the sorry state of things but that shouldn't prevent us from doing whats right given the opportunity. Otherwise we are no better than those tearing the country down.
What's funny Economist is that if they vote NO against 1- might that mean that a Bahamian woman who marries a foreign woman abroad and chooses to have kids with said woman, can claim citizenship for those kids anywa since her marriage is not valid under Bahamian law? Lol. Let them enshrine that right - seems fitting for bigotry to work against its short sighted attempts to limit the rights others who don't think, look and act exactly as they "claim" they do - no different than any other religious zealot and we know what Jesus thought of them.
Economist- this is the kind of idiocy that is dooming this country. Presented with facts- pride and emotionalism get in the way of reality. You are asking this man - and all of us - to do the two things we need to do, but are not, and sadly -maybe cannot do- read and understand. It just demonstrates the profound and debilitating limitations of those who call themselves or claim to be leaders. A tragedy really. Prideful and and limited critical thinking.
Who are you speaking for? Who is this "we"? Over the hill born and bred people like me? No need to speak for me or people like me of your "feelings". I prefer to THINK and we don't think the same. Why should the PLP bother? Minnis is doing a good job giving them the election himself. Shoot they don't even need to campaign- and THAT considering their shoddy performance - something new every day- is sad indeed and reason enough for him to bow out of politics completely. And all this white money BS- ALL the parties are the same. All drive to Lyford Cay and Old Fort and the Eastern Road for "green" money and all behave like 5 dollar pros for it. Minnis is probably in the lead car. So stop the foolishness.
Ego. Pure and simple. Not sure why I was reading about unqualified African demigod, despotic leaders the other night, but all started innocent looking, either with positive plans or so underwhleming as to not even be noticed before their takeover. Minnis reminds me so much of those men. Hsi quoting Donald Trump the demagogue sealed it for me. He gatta go. I would say what I really think, but I think lkalikl got it covered above. damn.
Publius- If it wasn't so serious...but you had me rotfl! i concur!- If that isn't the dumbest sh##t I have heard come out of a politicians mouth in the last six hours! THIS is the best the FNM can do? THIS is the best we can do? My fellow Bahamians get your boats and inner tubes ready..for the emergency flotilla out of here. Tuesday's vote has suddenly taken on a new sense of urgency. Vote YES on Tuesday. We might just need to marry foreigners to save the country. Too much inbreeding here. Stupidity can't done.
Sheeprunner12 my observation of rich people- they have one hand out and when you fill that one, the other hand appears. No harm in getting a little more. Minnis is not and will not suddenly be any different than the corrupt yokels there now.
