I am not knocking the faith at all Tal. People can believe in whatever, whomever they want. Do you. I am just using an analogy, because growing up the JWs were unfortunately not welcome at my house. That's the point- Not sure how many parties upon seeing Rollins knock on the door would also pretend not to be home. I don't know the man and I certainly don't know about the laptop business- something our so called news outlets might followup on - seemed like questionable behavior if you ask me. I just find Rollins use of language and turns of phrase kinda refreshing.Nothing more, nothing less. If all else fails, the young man would make one hell of a preacher or defense lawyer.
I think any party seeing Dr. Rollins coming will treat him like a Jehovah's Witness. turn of the tv, close the windows and blinds and pretend not to be home. I am indifferent to Rollins, but I have to say- he dropped the mic on this one. I am not a political insider and a member of no party but he got a point - or two- or maybe even three- and the boy know how to express it. lol.
Congratulations. But why is this a special story? There are tons of Bahamians graduating from college with some amazing stories- Since you are a 'newspaper' maybe do a feature- a series of stories on young and not so young Bahamians doing big things. What about the Bahamian valedictorian at Morehouse? The priest from Yale? The young man who graduated from COB and broke out in a spirit dance? Come on Tribune if she is connected to the paper- say so- and then do better.
Well_mudda_take_sic, our failure to lead and think in terms of succession politically is similar to the lack of ability of men to take up fatherhood roles in the wider society. Was HAI mentored or did he have to figure it out himself? Bahamian men generally seem to find it difficult to father, nurture and lead as if these characteristics are mutually exclusive. So we have a succession problem because the big daddy's never never mentor younger politicians, never know when its time to go and the un-mentored boys can't seem to ever stand up and outfox big daddy- a mark of political strength-(which you gotta give to HAI- though he struck when his papa was critically weak). What do you have? Weak, corrupt men waiting to be conferred as leader. What do you get? Weaker and weaker leadership. I see Neko Grant making a move...
He certainly lost Carmichael but if I recall by less than 100 votes so it was a difficult loss but not embarrassing. He got his deposit back. All I am saying is how a person "looks" should have little bearing on their political heft. How he thinks and what he - or she- can do is what we need right now. Some vision.Maybe Cash should work on people skills - but he sounds like he is sick of the political business as usual. If he can't get with the program, change the system or work within the system, he is a smart guy. He knows the price.
Here comes ugly. In terms of lack of charm. Absence of great design compatible with the climate, size and architectural history of Nassau. A whole lot of ugly.
the problem is this- too many politicians - including the ones he sent to broker the deal have financial interests in this monstrosity. And they want to make money at all costs. Of course any concession will be framed in terms of jobs for the people and not the relining of their own pockets - but know what it is. Those who worked there before and hope to go back- remember- you won't be working for Sarkis if you go back - but the Chinese- and jack- thats a different ball game. The payment of the Bahamian subcontractors should be a priority- not to be considered after work begins because in my mind that means no consideration at all.
She is an ex BUT president but 60gs but obviously is not enough for her. What this tells me is being union boss means she makes a lot more than that- up front and possibly- likely- on the side.
