Wow...they are holding a quarter million dollars in fish in our waters and we fine them $100,000.00?? Fine them 5 times the value of their illegal catch, confiscate the vessel and JAIL the captain for 5 years! We need to send a clear message to these thugs that we will throw the book at them for this nonsense!
I am becoming so overwhelmed by persons who suggest that in some way homosexuality will become a fashionable "trend" to heterosexual people, and will in some way cause a conversion of children into whoring, promiscuous sex beasts. Even worse, is the use of religion as a tool to spread hate and diatribe against a minority who are born with a homosexual predisposition, and others claiming it can be prayed away with Bibles and harmful treatment. The idea that the country will go up in flames because of gay people is biblically flawed and lacks any sensible reasoning.
The Dominicans have us for a complete joke. 90 percent of the time they are able to poach thousands of pounds of seafood from our waters without being caught. By the time we do catch up with them, they are happy to pay the $5k in fines and haul azz back to the DR and catch the next boat sailing to get more fish out of our seas. Why do we have to wait until the end of the budget year? Shouldn't our lawmakers hasten to protect our resources? What laws are being passed in our parliament that are so pressing that this one has to wait so long? What are these politicians busy doing???
I am speechless. What a complete mess we are in! I would love to see the govt try to win this case. Seems open and shut to me, and really speaks to the incompetence of this administration.
Just as businesses are required by law to display their business licenses, VAT registrants should be required to display, in an open and visible manner, their VAT registration certificate and number. Otherwise a client can refuse to pay a single cent in VAT.
