For years govt tax collectors have FAILED to collect taxes due! Friends, family, lovers and bribers were allowed to not pay a dime on taxes and we aint see them being thrown in jail and fined thousands of dollars. Now the govt wants me and business owners to collect their taxes and now wanna nail us to the wall if you are a day late or a dollar short??? If ya dont laugh you will cry!
Lord help us! Contractually sanctioned double compensation for time off work at the expense of taxpayers, signed off by vote buying politicians??? Sounds about right! If we vote for crooks how can we reasonably expect that they not be criminals!? Vote better! Demand better!....or just shut and shake. Wat more yinna 'spect outta hog 'cept grunt!?
Amazing that rather than admit to its shortcomings, the Minister is defending the snail pace at which responses are received, and calling the Bahamian professionals liars. These guys are such a joke....
There has to be some clause in this industrial agreement that requires the company to solvent in order to continue to pay these outlandish benefits. How can there be an expectation (or "entitlement") of payment of these "benefits" when the company has no money!? How is it reasonable that if an employee is sick they should receive full salary AND an additional payment of sick benefit from NIB. I am of the view that a sickness benefit is to supplement or replace lost wages, and not to provide extra pay on top of regular earnings. These people have no regard for the financial position of BEC and could care less if the company goes belly up trying to pay for all these extras. These unions stop at nothing!! I do believe though that if the govt agreed to pay these outrageous benefits by signing on to this industrial agreement, Mr. Miller ought to sit with them to let them know that the company can no longer afford to pay them, rather than inform them by way of a company wide memo. That said, I support his decision but not his methods.
Can you believe this guy? How is it a "benefit" of BEC union members to claim sickness benefit AND collect full salary? I agree with Miller 100%. These unions are terrorists in truth and Mr. Green will not stop until he has sucked every penny out of BEC!
All foreigners need to do is come to the govt with a promise of jobs then they are given govt permits to pin us to the ground and screw us where it hurts most. Sad.
Unfortunately, following the fiasco that transpired at the Detention Center, Minister Mitchell lacks the moral authority to speak to abuses of persons while detained. Rather than admit to the unfortunate events, and immediately implement policies to adequately regulate these holding facilities, he is on the defensive with no legs to stand on.
