I know we love to hate the govt, there has to be issues but again we have to listen and read all perspectives. In these very newspaper, though they were not posted on the home page, some vendors are saying that systems isn’t as useless as some would make it seem, they also indicated that the training seminars, which they attended, were practical empty, so is no blame suppose to be laid at the merchants feet if they in fact did not show up to the training session; if in fact merchants are refusing upgrade their IT systems to properly accommodate said system?
I notice the public is very selective in their commentary, i guess when you only wanna complain and criticise and never take responsibilty for our own actions...
Tell that to your fellow Bahamians who threaten not to come to work, work to rule and adopt terroristic tactics because they want money they know they wouldn’t get in the private sector.
Yup, I accept that. I just wonder if people are prepared to accept that just as much or more of it occurs at the hands and feet level of corporations and public institutions - though it might not be headline news
I think we gotta watch these NGO’s though we may be thankful for their help. I saw a documentary on YouTube called Bahamas: Hurricane Hell, they were in the shantytowns and other area putting up tents and structures after the govt asked them to stop because it was delaying the clean up process. They asked the cameras not to show their face so they dont get in trouble.
Further, are people prepared to accept that if corruption - which i assume we mean bribery or taking and hoarding goods - is being carried out by civil servants or ordinary front line persons - in my mind if some MP was asking for 30 grands they would have already been put on blast publicly.
Early this year 2 customs officers and a spouse get catch stealing the John Bull shipment - you think we can count on them to not have sticky fingers in the circumstances
Seems like a bit much, if your not gonna make provision for pedestrian and cyclists; if the roads are not gonna have proper signage and lighting, and these pedestrian, my god, i was out east recently, one the way back home ppl just in the road, walking in the road in the dark, running cross the road, they just assume the car suppose to stop for them i guess. Robinson Road after three o clock was terrible, children just in the road running cross the road, nobody uses the pedestrian crossing.
Like how his law firm/ client was/is Bahamas Petroleum Company, who all over the world talking about they drilling for oil, were granted licenses to drill for oil by the plp govt, but he and the plp round here talking about everyone else and what bad the environment; the business with his secretary ownInt shares in NID/companies who were given govt contracts
