Regardless of whether you believe homosexuality is biologically or choice driven, no one can deny that it is unnatural. Whenever people live their lives in an unnatural state, there is a price to pay. This is God's law or, if you are not religious, the law of the universe. Man was not made to live in homosexual union - no one can deny that. And so people who find themselves living this way, either through choice or inherent compulsion, do pay a price. That price could be related to their happiness, sense of self worth, or oftentimes their health. If Jesus was alive today in The Bahamas, He would surely embrace the gay community in love but would then say "go my brothers and sisters and live the way I intended you to live" He would not say "go and celebrate your dysfunction"
Prime Minister your lack of leadership has made you the subject of ridicule. The amount of time you need to make key decisions is ludicrous. The Country waits with baited breath for the outcome of your deliberations. Anyone with a modicum of leadership skill would have resolved this matter within a day.
Leslie Miller should not hold any major public office because he has shown by his behaviour in Parliament and his failure to be a responsible citizen (grossly outstanding BEC bill) that he is simply not leadership material. Only in the PLP is incompetence rewarded.
I agree with much of what you say John but let's imagine what the Bahamas would be like today if there had been no foreign investment over the last 40 years? Would it be better or worse? Personally, I don't think it is the foreign investment that is the problem. The problem is the corrupt nature of our political leaders. Many of these politicians have robbed the country of much of its wealth to satisfy their own lust for money. This lost money could have funded major improvements in the quality of education available to young Bahamians. Our young men and woman are being failed by the state because of the greed of our leaders and it continues today. How bad will it have to get before Bahamians march on Parliament and demand a Freedom of Information Act and a government that is truly accountable to the electorate? Until that happens, The Bahamas will continue to be a nation for sale and young men and women will continue to live bitter, violent lives and miss the vision that God has for each of them. So sad.
He added: “It is important for us to counter this narrative of a PLP that is not fit to govern"
Well Fred there is an easy solution to solving the PLP's negative image:
1. Appoint a Prime Minister who is not afraid to make decisions, 2. Rid the party of those who place their own selfish interests ahead of the country's and 3. Begin governing the country with a modicum of efficiency.
Birdiestrachan - you are behaving like one mindless apologist for Perry Christie and the PLP. The Prime Minister should have been in the House to cast his vote - plain and simple. How can you even try and defend his absence?
