This story is all over the UK press. This was a British passport holder killed in cold blood in front of his family.

Quote: "A male resident of the home was fatally shot during an argument with the gunman. The assailants robbed the family of jewellery and several personal belongings."

What more to the story can their possibly be? Innocent homeowners do get shot or killed in The Bahamas.

Condolences to the family of the deceased. What a nightmare for them. Their lives will never be the same again. With all of my being, I detest the sub human scum behind this atrocity. I'm not a proponent of capital punishment but incidents like this cause me to reflect on whether I need to change my position.

Oh this is so typical. The Prime Minister delivering a lecture in Trinidad "while Rome burns". Why does he need Mitchell and Rolle to accompany him? Can't he turn the pages himself?

Got to agree with the leader of the opposition on this one. The PM would do himself a favour by just letting the matter die. However, he continues to make himself a target for the FNM by continuing with his nonsensical utterances over the Lightbourne affair. Lord have mercy!

The PM's ego won't allow him to admit that he made an error of judgment. This continual rationalizing of his mistake just diminishes him as a leader.

No one is gloating over Lightbourne's problems - this is not what it is about at all. What concerns right thinking Bahamians was the favoritism that was shown to Lightbourne by a PM who should have known better than to misuse his Executive authority. Hundreds and hundreds of ordinary "unconnected" Bahamians are losing their homes through no fault of their own. Lightbourne is a man of some means who has benefitted hugely at tax payers expense over the years (through non payment of taxes). He is in a better position than most of these unfortunate former home owners.

Regardless of the unfairness of it all (given America's dreadful crime situation in the heart of its own inner cities), the US Embassy and the Cruise Lines are only doing their job of warning their citizens and customers of the dangers of walking around Nassau. Yes, it hurts us all to think that the world does not see New Providence as a little bit of Paradise. Unfortunately we lost that tag a long time ago. Successive administrations have buried their head in the sand for too long and now and the problem has become critical. So Fred Mitchell's response is to blame the US Embassy for picking on The Bahamas!! No Fred, instead of pointing the finger at the Americans, persuade your PM and his colleagues that reducing crime is the absolute TOP priority. Let's see some decisive leadership on the issue starting with a declaration of WAR against these armed thugs.

A well written and totally truthful letter from Whistleblower. I hope those persons who were "duped" into trusting the PLP at the last election really think carefully before they vote again in three years' time. I predict that in the lead up to the next election the PLP will set up (but not introduce) the National Health Plan as the "carrot" to the gullible. See it for what it will be - another false promise. The Plan will not be properly thought through and costed out but the PLP will hope that the opposition parties will admit the truth (that it will not be financially viable) and thus provide the PLP the opportunity to sell another dream and win another term in office. Meanwhile, the Lightbourne saga and the PLP's attempts to defend the indefensible goes right to the heart of the malaise affecting the Bahamian political system.
