Britain was raped, pillaged and enslaved by the Romans and then the Vikings back in the day so should the Royal family / British Government seek reparations from Italy and Norway on behalf of its present citizens? The whole idea is a nonsense.
Mitchell: "Some day, some generation will have to fix this". Really? I'm sure there were similar sentiments expressed prior to independence. How has that worked out?
By any number of metrics, The Bahamas has gone backwards after almost 50 years of independence? Why not go the whole hog and become a Republic? That will help, lol. Davis is playing to the gallery again. Why doesn't he try to be a leader for once instead of a politician?
The Government is running scared of the foreign banks and doesn't want to impose any measures that would have them shutting up shop entirely. So we must all suffer their diminishing levels of customer service.
The FNM had a golden opportunity to move the country forward post Christie but blew it because they voted for a leader who did not have the character or skill set to lead a government. Minnis cost the FNM the last election and probably the next. The party only has itself to blame. Ingraham had his chance to be a statesman after being voted out of office but his inflated ego would not allow him to lead the FNM in opposition. He had his chance and should lie low.
None of the local banks are remotely interested in service levels to their customers. It is all about maximising profit. I feel sorry for many of our senior citizens who are not internet savvy and who are treated with contempt by these banks.
Seems the PLP strategy is to "kick down the road" all the painful economic decisions that must be made sooner rather than later (i.e. removal of non-jobs in the civil service, how to properly fund the NIB, reduction in Government debt). It wouldn't surprise me if the thinking is to hold out until the next election and then allow the IMF to make those decisions for us when we have to go "cap in hand" to them. Let no one be fooled, however, the day of reckoning must come and it could come sooner than the Government is planning.

Well said. Just because some people fail at marriage doesn't mean the institution of marriage should end. Silly conclusion.

Oftentimes I don't agree with your sentiments Tribanon but THAT was a perfect summation of where The Bahamas is today.

A comment born out of sheer ignorance. A classic example of the failure of the Bahamian education system.
