Ok, so the Chinese will complete Baha Mar at some point in the future in accordance with their own dubious standards and some "framework agreement" which is really no agreement at all. No timeline for completion of course, just as "expeditiously as possible". Bahamian creditors will be "considered" in the finalisation of the Agreement which means that if creditors are to be made whole then, in all likelihood, the Bahamian Tax payer will end up footing the bill (in the form of generous government concessions to CCA). As the previous poster suggests completing the construction is one thing, getting to the stage where the resort can open is quite another. After opening how long will it take before the resort begins to even break even? Another five years? We could therefore be looking at ten years from now before the resort starts to make a profit! Who, other than the Chinese, is going to purchase on that basis? So does the Prime Minister expect us to be excited by yesterday's totally underwhelming announcement? Nothing has changed except that we now know for sure that the PLP has colluded with the Chinese to force Izmirlian out of his investment. What an absolute disgrace. What an act of treachery against a major overseas investor and the people of The Bahamas. Payback time is surely only 12 months away.

Getting CCA Bahamas to complete the construction on the cheap is one thing. Getting a new managing company and developing a business plan will take much longer. It will be a while before this resort opens to the public. I am assuming that CCA has been given the green light by government to purchase. Imagine being rewarded for dreadful workmanship! China now effectively controls the Bahamian economy and a genuine and major investor is out on his #ss. Nice one Mr. Christie!

The arrangement provides for a framework for putting in place the financing required for completion of the project and for CSCEC’s indirect subsidiary, CCA Bahamas to remobilise and restart construction to finish the project as expeditiously as possible.”

and then what?

So we have young males walking around the streets of New Providence packing handguns??? What has this island come to? This illegal arms problem needs a robust and radical response from Government. It has needed such a response for many years now but successive administrations have been clueless. B.J. Nottage is completely unqualified to be Minister of National Security - the country is making no progress whatsoever in the war against these armed thugs. It is high time that the politicians started to treat this as a "war" and a "war" that must be won. get these guns off of our streets by whatever means!

Is it "political mischief" to dare to be concerned about the future direction of Baha Mar and the apparent stranglehold the Chinese have over our country?

Minnis is secretly hoping for a No vote - pretty obvious really. He is morphing into Perry Christie!

Message to all Bahamians: Do not rely on your state pension being there for you when you retire. Government has not protected our interests and has engaged in corrupt practices over a number of years with regard to investments made on behalf of the NIB. At some point in the not too distant future, the fund might well become insolvent and major structural changes will need to be made. This could mean raising the retirement age, reducing benefits etc. Save while you can because this bunch of thieves are not looking after your back.

It is clear that the PLP is about to sanction the handing over of Baha Mar to the Chinese because it is the quickest way to have the resort completed. CCA will acquire the property and finish it to its dubious standards (not internationally accepted standards which will cause problems down the line) Bahamian contractors and creditors will be sacrificed in Christie's desperation to have the resort construction completed before next May. Further concessions will be granted to CCA (to the dismay of Atlantis Resorts) With CCA already pushing ahead with "the Pointe" the Chinese will therefore have a dominant grip over the Bahamian economy for years to come. Christie is about to "sell his soul to the devil" in his desperation to stay in power for another five year term. What a tragedy for the country! What a legacy!

If the electorate votes "No' then the PLP will only have itself to blame.
