I would imagine it would be pretty hard to prove what house was where after all this mess. The survey dept needs to figure out the adjacent and legitimate private properties then cordon off the shanty areas and figure out what is privately owned by the original land owners and what is crown land to be made into green space or memorial. I don't really see how anyone can prove their shanty building was in a particular 30x30 area after all of this destruction and how you can prove how long you were there for prior to the storm. But I guess that gray area can play both sides of the argument...

Wave forecast peaks at 11-15 ft swell on Saturday evening into Sunday off Eleuthera. If there is a high tide peak at the same point, the Glass Window Bridge will not fare well. Send the closure notices now.

Sounds a little down-played based on Basil's quotes. There are some models that show Dorian cutting right through Abaco around Hope Town area. Of course its just one of the models but it could also be a Cat3 storm with New Moon tides. Atleast Capt. Russell seems to be keeping the level of caution up. I think Glass Window Bridge should be closed in advance from late Saturday, give the notices now.

It doesn't always end well. Minimum wage goes up and so does the cost of everything else. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toront...

Seems kinda like fear mongering. They said the mock inspection was done June 18th, they said they have been working since to fix the issues in time for July inspection. Either they did or they didn't correct it and will only have themselves to blame. Most likely there were 1 or 2 bigger issues that they should've fixed in a month, might be a few smaller infractions left over that probably won't shut the place down.

A lot of I.T. work isn't done locally either... **because they don't need to be here to do it**... much like (but not exactly like) Architecture. Hell the authorities have a hard enough time keeping track of industries that are supposed to be Bahamian only and are actually performed/fulfilled locally.

People should not "almost have to" own a generator to function in The Bahamas. As if the cost of living and cost of doing business is not high enough already, now Minister D'Aguilar says *"It’s the reality that most hotels and restaurants almost have to have a built a back-up generator into your business plan."* Guess it's our fault...

So the bees were disturbed when a tree was chopped and we're surprised they attacked? Also how many birds (to survey) are still in the same spot after machete chopping through the bush?

Well said Mr. Myers, govt should work on efficiency going forward and fully utilizing the revenue streams that are already out there. Unfortunately, with the inefficiencies we have right now and all the work planned by MoW and other agencies I smell more taxation of some sort. Minister of Health is supposed to have the new breadbasket list as well, sugar tax coming along with that?

Opening 2020, just in time for the sugar tax the rest of us will have to bear. :) Any guesses if the "Sugar Factory" will see a sugar tax ;)
