The EU is probably worried about losing credibility if they quickly reverse our blacklisting, so it might be at least another quarter until they change anything. Like it was said, the damage may already have been done. Another unfortunate negative tickbox for our Island Nation.
Cool yea, just hope they do something with sense. Think that depth chart is in meters. Could always just setup a pier to fish from for Tuna/Wahoo while we're at it :)
The "shelf" cuts far into Eleuthera in the area of the Glass Window so there is very deep water only a few feet offshore. Therefore ocean energy travels closer to the land unhindered in this area. 900ft deep is a lot to build up a reef from :)
1. I think a causeway out into the calm side is a better idea than constantly battling the Atlantic Ocean. If you build a higher arch in the existing area, the supports will still be affected by ocean swells.
2. I like hearing about the mangrove replanting but I hope good research is done as to where to plant them and also in protecting existing growths of natural mangroves. No sense planting a bunch of mangroves on a windward or ocean facing coast.
Hmmm. Has anyone taken a look at all the food products that contain high fructose corn syrup? https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/20… Wouldn't it be a Catch 22 to impose a "sin tax" on a "VAT Free - breadbasket item" like Ketchup? I know they had proposed to re-arrange the breadbasket list but not sure Ketchup would be removed. Seems like they're just brainstorming but...
Would like to see more green initiatives vs Dinosaur technology and messy crude oil storage but I understand the draw. My worries would be the tankers coming from other foreign countries and little care/attention/regulation when it comes to their oil transfer to the mainland, and when and where they are allowed to empty their ballast water. All kind of crud, crap, and invasive marine species could be in that ballast water. . . . Last point...anyone find it strange that there are no available MLS realty listings for East Grand Bahama? Who is holding on to the property waiting for things to develop in East GB. Would like to think private citizens could be allowed to buy their piece of East Coast GB beach property but there's nothing available???
Hmmm. But where exactly are these Flamingos coming from? Being a protected species shouldn't they just remain in their natural habitat? Unless they are displaced or injured what are we really protecting?
- We need more incentive and increased ease of doing business for Bahamians. Fare business license fees and expedited business license application processing for Bahamians. Also would like to see:
- Different $$ Threshold for Bahamians vs Foreigners and a higher than 250K minimum for Foreigners. - More details pertaining to these special zones and incentives - will foreigners just get huge amounts of crown land as "incentives"?
- Also probably gonna need some sort of totalization agreement for taxes between the US and The Bahamas to attract US business.
