Sheeprunner said it right......it’s a catch 22. As a tourist or a Bahamian for that matter, you’d like to enjoy the sights and scenes of the Islands, but you take your life in your own hands. Yes, the Americans will want answers and rightfully so, and the family of the deceased and those injured are going to sue somebody or some entity, and rightfully so!
Unfortunately, I wish them luck, because there is going to be little if any investigation, zero accountability, and the Government will simply chalk this up to “a very tragic and unfortunate incident.” Yes, it is a tragic and unfortunate incident and the Andy You can bank on that! The Government owes it to the deceased and to those injured to conduct a full and comprehensive investigation and to hold the responsible parties accountable - plain and simple! Now let’s see what happens. Mark my word!
And the by the way - those engines didn’t explode or catch fire. This wreaks of flammable combustion. Those engines have hardly been damage as you can see from the photos. And when an engine catches on fire, you can’t tell me that occupants on a boat are either killed or injured. The boat may eventually burn to the water line, and people will be jumping overboard, but this was more than a fire. This was an explosion I’m betting caused by fuel vapors trapped beneath the deck. But that’s how we Bahamians go......bush mechanics with WD40, wrench, screw driver, pliers and some tape that’ll fix everything!
Good for Dr. Sands! He is absolutely right! If you can’t pass a test, then you can’t be a MD. Go back to school or pursue a different career. In fact, one has to wonder, how did these so called MDs get to be MDs??
ThisisOurs.........and the reason you believe Great Britain should do all the things you listed for the Bahamas is what??? That’s part of the problem with this country.......people like you that believe other countries should help us. Good luck!!!
It has nothing to do with old staff my friend. It has everything to do with leadership and accountability - a foreign concept that heads of government organizations have failed to grasp since 1973, and don’t you for one moment believe that’s going to change in this lifetime or the next. You start firing people for poor performance and you watch how fast things turnaround! In fact, it’ll happen before you turnaround to see it - but this too is a foreign concept to Bahamians. And so, status quo, is the order of the day! Road work and coordination of utility companies has been f - - - - d up since I was young boy. What else is new?!
13 persons on a 25 foot boat????? Who’s the dumb ass that owns the boat and who are the dumber asses that agreed to go all that way in a 25 foot boat????
This country has dealt with many an aircraft accident and the level with which they approach accident investigations is reprehensible. More importantly, the Civil Aviation’s outreach to family following an accident is practically non existent. They need to go spend some time with the NTSB in the U.S. and learn how to do this right!
His comments were spot on, but we Bahamians prefer to bury our heads in the sand and act like everything is ok. And guess what - with very few exceptions, we’ve been who we are for as long as we’ve all been around and the sad reality is we’re content just being who we, doing what we do, and if we’re no better tomorrow than we are today, we’ll that’s ok. We’ll just keep doing what we do. Ever looked up the definition of insanity.........it’s called doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. That’s we Bahamians!
