China has the financial resources to fund these projects and a pool of labor they need to keep employed. Whilst you may not be able to separate one from the other, government must do all it can to ensure that local labor and even local contractors get part of the pie.

A few years ago I suggested that the PMH be divided into three zones. A plan for a new state of the art hospital be drawn up then one zone of the existing hospital be completely demolished and the first phase of the new hospital be constructed on that site. Then the same thing done with the second and third phases eventually having a full newly built hospital. The floor levels can be increased be three of four floors to give additional space. And the perfect time to do this is once this new hospital is completed and move a section to the new hospital and begin the reconstruction of PMH. Not renovation or refurbishing but total rebuilding.

Personally I think this marijuana bill will correct some of the evils the PLP did in the 1970’s and 1980’s by having marijuana classified as a dangerous drug in the same class of cocaine and heroine and disrupting the lives of so many young men, even in school age and sending them to jail for up for five years for a little as a joint of marijuana. I done condone the smoking of recreational marijuana but this country is already at the point where half the population is smoking and so there may be the need to regulate it. There are also millions of tourists that come to these islands ‘looking for something to smoke’ and so to avoid them have long to go through some dark corner or through some bush. May as well decrimilize it. The young people walk around with 40 ox if Hennessy anyway

It is common knowledge that Brent Symnonette expressed interest on behalf of his family on getting a license to cultivate medical marijuana. And so if you on behalf of Brent Symnonette have evidence that I committed criminal liable, then sue me. Else get the behind me! There was also information that farms already in operation in Freeport could be converted or expanded to include medical marijuana.

Whilst government must take into consideration all the concerns of the Bahamian public, it must eventually weigh the positives against the negative. For example the concerns of traffic; the highway was designed and built with anticipation that traffic will increase in that area , with or without the hospital so that is a non issue. And about noise pollution. In the US they put concrete barriers along the highway where it runs adjacent to residential areas to drown out the noise from the highway . Here several levels of shubbery is less expensive and just as effective

So now you see why Brent ‘gimme more’ Symnonette made his appearance and saiy he doesn’t support Minnis, who is probably the greatest threat to unseating thr present government.

* ament
Health and Wellness minister Dr Michael Darville tabled a compendium of bills to establish a legal medical marijuana industry in the House of Assembly today.*
When you read this does it mean that the minister tabled a ‘compendium of bills in the House of Assembly, or ‘a ‘compendium of bills to establish legal medical marijuana ‘in’ the House of Assembly?

Well I guess we have to trade the rain for no potholes ( it less potholes). But this is the driest April-May we’ve had in at least four years. The grass is very brown and a lot of the shrubs along the road are also brown and dry. Making posibility of brush fires very likely. And with fire services being spread thin being shared with other islands public urged to exercise fire prevention.

This doesn’t happen by chance,” the minister revealed of the loan. “I went throughout the Caribbean. I went to Guyana, I went to Trinidad. The Chinese are building and funding many healthcare facilities throughout the Caribbean.’

This announcement was to be expected after the Chinese agreed to and completed the refurbishment of the National Stadium. So there will have to be trade offs. With a low interest of just 2 percent, this means that a China construction company will head the project. It also means that less Bahamians will hired for the construction. AND hopefully there will not be excessive cost overruns or shoddy work that have to be redone. The advantage is, since the Chinese are providing funding ( loan) for the project they will be more obligated to ensure the project is at least completed in a somewhat timely manner. Unlike the Baseball Stadium that passed through three successive governments, the Dormitory at Sandilands that suffered likewise fate. Then the project on Wulf Toad where government acquired the property of a private school, invested millions and left it to sit for years as a perfect example of government’s incompetence. Not to mention the former City Market building on Market Street which started renovations under ‘was it Hubert Ingraham and was scrapped by the Christie administration. Then there is the renovation at s Accident and Emergency which was started under Minnis and is yet to be completed. Hubert Ingraham, despit criticism, got the new portion of PMH completed and it is still state of the art.
