then, of course, because Minnis brought every thing in The Bahamas to an economic standstill apparently he assumed that the entire world was in recession. And because they ran up a greater than ever national debt, there was apparent panic on what to do next. More taxes, reduction in services? Layoffs of government employees?.
.. and was that why Minnis called an early, 'musical chairs election?

But to the contrary. The economy worldwide is in good shape. Better that usual. And people who have been locked down and restricted from travelling are anxious to return to places like The Bahamas. And their spending is above normal. some have lots of cash they accumulated during months of a closed economy. And the excess spending coupled with the shipping blockage causing hyper inflation, Run-a-way inflation even and everyone is still spending like Christmas. And this will continue for at least the next six months. Enough time for The Bahamas government to rake in additional revenue and restructure its debt. Reduce is significantly. Then there is the Joe Biden's multi-Trillion restructuring spend. Another great window, no door of economic opportunity. As this money is spent in the US. the spinoff effects will be felt in this country in many ways. Tourism for certain. ANd there will be migrant workers. the opportunities are there,

one of the problems Minnis may have created for himself is that he mismanaged the lockdowns of the economy during the pandemic. while, yes there may have been need to lock down some activities and restrict movement of people, he could have rotated the schedule more to allow for additional stores to open at least one or two days a week. At least to keep the economy moving. Of course activities like clubs, gymns indoor dining, movie theatres were off the list, but why were clothing and home essential stores not allowed to open? There were people still working (essential workers) who need essentials for work. And there were people who were institutionalized, hospitals, and prisons and old folk homes who also needed essentials as well as people needing items to bury the dead. had Minnis allowed these store to open on restricted schedules rather than being shuttered for 18 plus weeks, the economy would now be in much better shape and so will government's revenue.

Did the Minnis camp misread the economy? He promised to tell us why he called an early , musical chairs’ election. But did he?

Anything but Minnis. Yes anything. Saying that to say many believed that Minnis was doing an incredibly great job before the pandemic, considering the circumstances. Then when the pandemic hit many thought he was doing a great job keeping The Bahamas and Bahamians and residents and visitors safe. Then the vaccines come and both Minnis and Duane Sands list all sense of direction (an eventually a lot of credibility). It was ALL about the vaccines. Minnis was all but demanding people take them. And Duane Sands was saying, not in the same words, ‘if you don’t take the vaccine, you will die and you are killing the country with you when you get sick and overwhelmed the health system.’ Then Minnis came in the height of the pandemic, the Delta wave and called an election. Tough decisions have to be made he said , ‘and we, the FNM, need a new mandate to make those decisions.’ The people panicked! ‘Think Minnis ger force us to take the vaccines? Some thought, but not far fetched either. ‘And what he gonna do wit we if we refuse to take da vaccine?’ ‘Chile I gone to the island right nah’. And Austria tried locking down only its unvaccinated population as a means of forcing more people to get vaccinated. And the plan backfired and the cases amongst the vaccinated skyrocketed during their current fourth wave. And as of yesterday, the whole , entire country is on full and total lockdown. And in August, Minnis went in a campaign trail throughout the Bahamas and Davis also, with a band of vaccinated campaigners. And the new case and deaths from Covid is clear proof of the effects of this activity. Well besides Minnis no longer being PM and the FNM no longer being tge government.

Everyone was home with nothing to do. All work had to be done online. Schools and churches needed online. Weddings and funerals and christenings were online. And so was banking and Junkanoo. A bumper year indeed. But can they match it or beat the numbers?

while the unacceptable murder rate in this country is certainly climbing back to pre-pandemic levels, experts are warning that domestic violence and other forms of antisocial behavior will see unprecedented levels as the world reopens from the pandemic lockdowns and curfews. One cause for concern is violence among school children, some who have been locked away for almost two years. And the experts warn that not only may there need to be a relearning of social behavior among school children but additional security measures put in place to bring any outbreak of violence and unrest under control as quickly as possible.. Some suggest that there should be a gradual re-opening of schools, starting with a 3day face to face week then expanding to five days over several weeks.

> Dr Darville said the vaccination committee and Ministry of Health are actively considering making third doses available at least to people who are immunocompromised.<
.
The French have concluded that a third dose will not help persons in this category. That even after a third shot, their symptoms will be severe if they contracted the virus and will most likely be hospitalized and can possibly meet their demise. And the advice to them is to remain as isolated as possible. Boist their immune system as much as possible through healthy eating and healthy living and manage their pre-existing conditions as much as possible.

The vast difference of income was too great to restrict even the most disciplined. So it was the mothers who had to suffer the heartbreak of having their sons die in plane crashes or go missing on some go fast boat or getting llocked up in jails in some foreign country or eventually being shot and killed by their own, Bahamian drug rivals. And many mothers told their sons a thousand times over ‘ you mean more to me than all the money you could ever bring home. Leave them evil, wicked drugs alone and get a decent job. I need you alive more than anything in the world.’ But tge devil had planted his seeds and the ‘well orchestrated’ drug life was too sweet for many to walk away from. Now fentanyl is taking its toll on America , claiming thousands of lives annually. And authorities try to place the blame on China where most of the illicit substance is produced.but most of the addiction is started with legally written prescription by qualified doctors and are filled in licensed pharmacies operating legally in the United States. And thus far, most of the fentanyl deaths have been amongst the white folk of America of all levels of society, because, apparently it is this group that consumes most of the 800 Billion tonnes of cocaine that is shipped ‘illegally’ into the United States annually.

Carlton r61,,,; most of that which you wrote is blatant lies. Blatant and patent. The absence of the father started ways before America’s FAKE war on drugs in the 1980’s. It started during slavery when a prominent slave owner told s other slave owners that one of the most effective ways to punish slaves was to break up families. So fathers were taken out of the home and sent to other plantations and even mothers and children were often separated. And some male slaves were used ‘not unlike stallions’ where they were transported from plantation to plantation to ‘breed’ with selected female slaves. And some were not even kept around long enough to lay eyes on the children they fathered. And so they learned to suppress their emotions and not let ‘massa’ know the effects of having to be carted away and leave wife and children behind, some never to be seen again. And if that was not bad enough. Some slave owners had adulterous relationships with married female slaves and the slave husbands were powerless to do anything about. And many young female slaves were raped and violated in ways unimaginable by slave owners and their offspring. And so the woman had to endure all of these things and had to become the bedrock for the shreds of her family that was left by the cruel, vicious and heartless, white slave master. Every single Secretary of Defense since the Hoover presidency met with the then presidents to discuss ‘war on Black people.’ And the FAKE ‘war on drugs’ in the 1980’s was another plot to ensnare Black men and get them out of the homes and into prisons or graveyards. And despite the illicit drug trade growing multi fold since its impact on The Bahamas and the Caribbean, no other race has lost more lives and seen more people incercerated than Black people. Today some 800 million metric tonnes is shipped illegally into the United States and one hardly heard of any arrests deaths from drug trafficking or persons going to jail for drug trafficking. But it has wiped out thousands in Mexico and Colombia as the drug producing countries. Even Jamaica no longer fits prominently in the trade of marijuana because most of that which is consumed in the United States is produced in the US. And to say there was a big party in The Bahamas in the 1980’s when the drug bags got torn open and mothers gave preference to their sons who brought home the most (drug) money is a serious lie. These islands, like many others in the Caribbean, became intentionally awash with drug money and with cocaine the same time. The intention was to get as many people hooked on cocaine as possible and many others as corrupt as possible from the easy access to drug money. One could not use cocaine to the point of becoming an addict if they didn’t have money or easy access to cheap cocaine. And so it was many mothers who first saw through the plot to lure their sons away from earning a legitimate living into the illicit drug culture. The vast difference of income
