Even after losing some of his key personnel, even in the most treacherous times of this country’s history, Minnis has proven that he was able to hold on to the tiller and steady the course. Reece Chipman’s resignation was like a basketball ball player who only wants to shoot the ball, not being considerate that there are four other members of the team on the court and others on the bench who also, not only wants a part in the game but who also needs uniforms, tennis and socks. Persons like Vaughan Miller’s exit did not really effect the FNM as many persons expected he returned home to the PLP and to swallow his vomit. On the other hand the loss of Dr Duane Sands and Peter Turnquest were deep cuts that required a lot of surgery , if only to fix the cosmetics. Losing the health minister in the middle of a health pandemic was not easy . But Minnis stepped in and was able to fill the gap. And continue on in the crisis and battle the corona virus. Some believe the rift of sorts with Dr Sands and th Minnis administration is fixable and fixing it will be beneficial to both the FNM and Dr Sands. ForvSands to go back to th PLP at this point will be political suicide for Sands as he will take the trust and credibility issue with him. But the Bahamian people seems more willing to forgive him if he remains with the FNM and stays humble for a while. Fredric McAlpine is another kettle of fish. And it is not a small kettle of fish. McAlpine is a Belinda Wilson personality of sorts. You cannot say, ‘all bark and no bite’, but ‘more bark than bite.’ A type of creature who one would sometimes wish he would just go ahead and bite because his barking not only becomes irritating and distracting, but destroys the peacefulness and overshadows the progress of the party. Maybe McAlpine needs to be ‘fed to the wolves’, and allowed to go it along, if only to learn to appreciate the benefits of team work and party loyalty. But, unfortunately it the FNM cuts him loose, he may cower under the PLP banner like a Potcake under the front porch . This can be very distracting and draw much attention. Then there is the speaker, Halson Moultrie, who seems to want to Dre his own maps and set his own political course. And he insists on using his personal, political compass that many feel is setting him off course and giving wrong readings. Of course, his performance oss the first ‘independent’ speaker in the HOA will be measured and monitored over the next few months. Will the FNy throw him an olive branch, or have they already decided that too many of his differences are irreconcilable?

The major reason why I can’t (don’t) trust Brave Davis is because ha knew that it was by not following the COVID-19 Emergency Orders that he caught the v.iris. Fortunately, he was able to jet himself out of the country and to the US and get the best health care available at that time for Corona. He recovered, yet when he returned to The Bahamas, but rather than using his experience to inform Bahamians of how serious and potentially deadly the Corona is, he constantly attacked Minnis and the government for the Emergency Orders. Now with corona cases in the US falling by 70% since mid January, evidence shows that if Trump had only halfway enforced the emergency orders, not only the United States but the world would be mostly over the corona pandemic by now. How can you trust a man who is willing to forgo the safety and welfare of his country to advance his political agenda and score cheap political points.

Just today there veered four shootings in that 24 hour period: and as the murder count climbs steadily to twenty in the first two months on the year, two things are certain: Firstly, more must be done to intervene in this culture of gun violence and murder in this country and steer young people away from it. It is no longer a problem of conflict resolution, but culture of murder that has wrapped its tentacles around the youth of this society and holding them with a tight grip. Secondly: someone or some part of government must find the intestinal fortitude to put capital punishment into effect, if only temporary and if only for a short time. Persons who insist on committing murder, cold blooded especially, must get the message that they can no longer take a life and the only consequences are to sit up in Fox Hill playing Domonioes for a few years, if even that, then come back into society, hoping there is no revenge or payback.

A common jjjoke now is that Minnis wouldn’t shuffle his cabinet so his cabinet is reshuffling him. Every time he turns around, someone is resigning, getting fired, becoming disgruntled or even defecting. Democracy at its finest and politics in full swing as silly season becomes more silly. Donald Trump is still fighting to keep his tax records private and many Bahamian politicians have learned how to hide their assets, especially after serving in some of the highest positions in the country. The streets will always have a story and many will cry out for justice, but that, too seems as far away s the next pandemic.

The UK is starting to re-open again after a long lockdown. Their cases have fallen from over 70,000 a day to under 10,000 cases a day. Again before the full effects of the vaccines were in place.

John says...

The fact is, the numbers of Corona numbers were falling worldwide before the vaccines were effectively put in place. In fact the corona numbers have fallen by 70% in the YS since January. So the only reason for the rush to vaccinate is that maybe these vaccines will become obsolete in a few months.

Herd immunity is when a significant portion of a population has contracted a virus and now have antibodies such that they prevent the rest of a population from contracting a virus. Now would you be brave and say what else you find wrong with my post.

John says...

The corona vaccine does not prevent a person from getting corona, but it lessens the chances of one getting it. It does not boost one’s immune system but reduces the amount of corona virus that is allowed to enter the body. So persons who are high risk or have pre existing conditions, will still be high risk or likely to get corona if exposed to the virus. None of the vaccines create heard immunity, and, in some cases some classes of people, like doctors, nurses, policemen and retail store workers, in The Bahamas have proven to have developed herd immunity as they work in areas where they may be regularly exposed to the corona virus but do not develop the disease and some don’t even show mild symptoms. And no one knows for certain how long the vaccines remain effective. But what is known with great certainty is the developers/manufacturers of the vaccines will make many billion$ when this exercise is over and done with. Most of the vaccines require a two-part dosage and with an average of $20 a shot the Billion$ add up. And as of now, the vaccines must be taken annually and so, at least into next year the pharmaceutical companies are sitting on nest eggs. And according to Dr Anthony Fauci, masks will be required well into next year. My opinion differs and mask wearing may be discontinued as early as summer.

All the hotels workers who bring in most of the cars are ay not working or still facing uncertainty about future employment. So they will not be ordering vehicles like they would be. And since it takes 3 months for vehicles to arrive, those orders that were made in December will not arrive until next month

On Vehicle imports down up to 90%

The good thing about this upcoming election is the average Bahamian on the street or even home in curfew or lockdown is well aware of the issues and concerns of the country. They will not be sidetracked by the dirty politics that and campaigning by ‘dem racist people out West who are even attacking and sullying the names of persons who have not even expressed any interest in running in the upcoming Elections. Nygard is a nonissue and no more than this jred paper’s bag of yellow journalism and mad propaganda by dem people out west. No body in Bains and Grants Town knows the four girls who claim they were raped and are now living abroad, all expenses paid, compliments of you know who. No one except that preacher who also got funds. So if you exposing where one party got their money from, tell the Bahamian people, most already know where the other party getting theirs from. Can you see Russia from your back porch?
