First off why did we ever put The power company in the hands of a foreign management? What was the benefit? It appears the country had gone generations backwards in terms of power generation. And an unstable or inadequate supply of power affects everything else in a country. When unrest erupted in Venezuela the first thing that went down was the power. The reports were that the government under drive was intentionally disrupting the power to make the people suffer. The government response was that US forces who supported the opposition and were helping to try overthrow the seated government were sabotaging the electricity grid. Why is there an attempt to have less and less Bahamians trained and qualified and able to run this country’s power supply? They have been doing it for decades and even when there was union unrest, the power disruptions were never this severe, this long ladting or so far reaching. Is it coincidence that Bimini that has a booming economy is having similar challenges with power supply? Secondly, WHY is BEC so cash strapped and seems to be losing money when it cannot meets the demand for its power? This means BEC is operating beyond full capacity. When oil prices dropped from $150 plus a barrel to under $40 a barrel, it was suggested that BPL hold its fuel surcharges constant for a year. This would have allowed it to generate in excess of $100 million to replace at least one major generators. But instead the situation has deteriorated where the lights are still off and Bahamians are paying even more for electricity. The conclusion of any right thinking person is this entire fiasco at BPL is by design. It is intended to fraustrate the public, disrupt persons lives stagnate the economy and drive up the cost of living to a point that electricity is a luxury and not affordable by many Bahamians. Government needs to take the power company back. Neither Power Secure or BPL has demonstrated they have good intentions for the Bahamas or the Bahamian people. Where there is intelligence there should also be counter intelligence and common sense
Marvin Dames recently conducted a home invasion where every adult male occupant in site was killed by police. And despite police reports that the men were shooting at them, other eyewitnesses say the men were either sleeping, hiding or begging for their lives. And because they were masked, some feel that some of the police may not even be Bahamian. So will it take an incident where one is injured or fatally shot to confirm that foreign police are active on the Bahamas police force? Can Marvin Dames confirm or deny that there are foreign officers working on the police force? And from which country are they from? then there was the young man who was on his way to work, but was shot 18 times by a police officer and nothing has been done about it. And not to forget the male tourist who was slapped by a police officer downtown. Or the young man on Prince Charles who was knocked off his bike and had his tooth punched out by police officers. And then there is the missing Marvin Smith from Gambier who allegedly went missing while in the hands of police and has still not been found. And many young men will tell you they fear the police more than rival gangs because they pick them up, beat them, then lock them up for no apparent reason. So cheaper Meltdown Marvin fess up or shut up. No one believes him. Seems strange that no one from government seems to be reaching out to young men and trying to curb the from crime and gang avivity. Getting them jobs or career opportunities and trying to get them back to living as productive, law abiding citizens. Why is the 'us vs them' war still going on rather than trying to bring the prodigal sons back home..ALIVE!
First off it was a stupid idiotic idea to take the draconian, unnecessary ill thought out action that was done on Potters Cay. And since the vendors and the Bahamian public are the most affected victims, the motive must be ulterior, as has many of the decisions made under this government, especially wby Marvin Dames and Anthony Ferguson when it comes to fighting crime. The decision to raid sleeping communities in the heat of the night in search of mostly street corner drug peddlers who could have been apprehended in a less dramatic, less invasive manner. If fact most who were captured and arrested were curious persons who were awakened by the noise and the flashing lights and decided to pull out their cell Phone cameras! Can Marvin Dames or Anthony Ferguson say what one single benefit was achieved by these raids except to grab headlines and shout out to the world that the Bahamas has an even bigger crime than it really is? And the Bimini fiasco was even more disgraceful. Fully out of order. Didn’t these two blockheads sit and think of the effects of taking a small military into that stint, sleeping tourist island? These two dummies need to go and study up on the people who are advising them. This is what they do to successful, Black communities in their own country. In fact the only air attack in America where citizens were actually bombed and killed was a black city, only after it became too successful. So they use crime as a smoke sereen to create a dual economy here. And as the economy booms, the foreign businesses flourish and the Bahamian businesses pay all the taxes. They don’t want the Bahamian entertainers, the night clubs, the jet ski operators, the hair braiders and now Montagu, Potters Cay and Arawak Cay is under drive? What really happened at government house that fateful night? Were military helicopters really ? Fix Potters Cay and don’t let the greedy foreigners force you to close it down. History says Blacks in Africa helped capture other Blacks to sell them into slavery. So now you see it happening today in The Bahamas with your own two 👀 eyes.
The money that the US spends on wars and military can rebuild and upgrade their entire infrastructure. World domination plays a great part in it. China has taken a different approach by exporting products, people and loans across the world. They are the only country that is reaching beyond its boarders in proportion to America
It is sad that mothers are now having to say, "at least I don't have to worry about him anymore. I know he (their slain son) is in a safer place now. A better place and out of his miseries.Parents being to a point of despair where they believe that their child (yes most of them are still children) or even adult son cannot be safe as long as he is alive. NO, no one person is the blame. No government, in particular, is the blame but as long as the killings continue, we are all being defeated.

When governments allow national debts and other liabilities to grow to an astronomical amount, unchecked, then less money will be avofor infrastructure development and replacement. Citizens see their tax burden increasing but their standard of living and quality of life decreasing. And sometimes they rebel and riot even. The situation at BPL, is most vexing, disgusting and disgraceful. Consumers have been paying astronomical electricity bills for decades but the power company cannot keep the light on. And the poor, stupid, childish this corporation, what is obviously steeped in corruption, is unacceptable. ‘The customer base is growing.’ Consumers refuse th conserve energy.’ ‘The equipment is old and beyond repair.’ please! Most businesses pray on hands and knees for a growing customer base. And is consumers pay for the energy they use, it should not affect the company if they are not conserving. If fact it means more revenue for BPL. And with a growing customer base and customers that love to burn energy, why is BPL still financially struggling? And the old and antiquated epuipment song has been sung over and over and over again for over 20 years. How do you expect to stay in the energy business if you don’t invest in plant and equipment. So maybe it’s BPL’s intention for Bahamians to ‘sweat their ass off every summer and spend many nights in the dark and with the mosquitoes.’ And so they became frustrated but still do nothing.
This is the dirty, wicked law that the US forced on this country decades ago, causing many men to go to jail for long periods of time for barely over a joint. And it was even worse in the US where if two persons (or one) jokingly say they wish they had some marijuana to sell, they can be charged with ‘conspiracy to possess and supply dangerous drugs,’ even they they may have never seen or touched marijuana in their lives. And because marijuana is still a ‘schedule A ‘ drug along with heroine and cocaine, totally innocent persons with no intention to commit crime or use or possess drugs found themselves facing decades behind bars. So whilst the country may not be ready for the legalization of marijuana, at least not for recreational use, that part of the law needs to be addressed and fixed.
