The worst mistake this government could ever make is to give control of Nassau Port to the Cruise ships. They have only demonstrated greed and hoggishness in the past. More control will make them even more greedy. and disrespectful to Bahamians.

The worst mistake (or in Bahamian vernacular "the worsest mistake") this government could do is hand over the operation of the port to cruise lines. Can you imagine what will happen to this country and tourism? Imagine how they try manipulate and control everything now. Imagine if you give them the authority to do so. And any agreement for the port should be for a period of not longer than ten years

So what will their morale be after you request a qualified officer to drop his/her drawers and you body search them, just like the prisoners they have custody off? It is a mirror of what is happening in society, where the police stop, search and degrade citizens without reasonable cause. And so the average citizen now despises the police. The problem is 9 of 10 officers will be innocent and yes they will be demoralized. And if it continues they will quit their jobs and then only the rogue officers will be left. Then What? The proper thing is surveillance of the officers and once suspicion is developed, then you target those officers.

Under ordinary circumstances, police would’ve arrested everyone in the car. Obviously since she didn’t know how to fire the gun, it wasn’t hers and since they were giving her instructions... never mind.

So should the Bahamas Government put out warnings for Bahamians taking cruises? Bottom line is one must exercise caution and good judgement in every day life.

Well if you want to look at the numbers. Most of the triple digit murders happened under the PLP government.
And the decline to 91 is only bringing the numbers back to what they were post PLP. So if you were to use the 146 murders as a peak year in 2015, the question is will the murders only come down to what they were in 2009/2010, or will they come brown to what they were in the 1980’s and 1990’s? The first murder of the year hopefully is not an indication of how the year will be, where the killer comes up on the victim in broad daylight and shoots him in a group of onlookers. These are the types of killers that need to be more aggressively hunted down and, at some point, the punishment for cold blooded murder has to be more than just sitting in Fox Hill at the tax payers expense. Obviously this is not a deterrent.

First of all Bahamasair needs a business plan before it can build a business model. Then it can ‘right fit’ it’s mode into its plan. It is all well and good to say Bahamasair is the national flag carrier and also that it flies on domestic routes that are/were unprofitable, but how does Bahamasair plan to grow its routes, its services and, most importantly, its revenue? The only way it can grow it’s fleet without being a tax burden to the Bahamian people is to increase its revenue stream and consequently its profits or, at least, cut losses. And one of the greatest mistakes Bahamasair made of recent was when it chose to remain with turbo props when it had the opportunity to go to jet craft. As you noticed one of the private companies is switching to jets that are faster and not only cut down on flying time, but allows a company to get back on schedule more quickly once service is interrupted by equipment failure or weather or airport challenges. And the excess baggage problem from Florida during peak periods must be addressed. Either there has to be baggage restrictions or excess bags have to be flown if off hours to avoid flight delays. And, of course, passengers will have to bear additional costs.
