The thing about this is the store owners and their employees and other people who work downtown hogg up all the parking spaces anyway. So persons wanting to go downtown to patronize businesses, including his, cannot find anywhere to park. How about putting some 30 minutes or even 60 mins max parking meters along Bay Street for 50 cents and $1.00 respectively. That way if someone want to dash into John Bull to buy some jewelry or go to the Linen Shop can do so with less hassle. Do this and every store on Bay Street will see a 10-20% increase in sales over the next few months.

Bay Street is now already aggressively hostile towards Bahamians and motorists and now this man is trying to pour fuel on the fire. It is past intimidating to drive down Bay street, early especially Sunday mornings and see so many police standing with their ticket books ready to give them(tickets) out. Not only does it discourage one from going down Bay Street but even more from stopping to shop. Maybe the downtown merchants need to come together and find a solution and only involve the police if it becomes absolutely necessary. Parking is going to be a major point of contention for the revival of Bay Street. One solution may be to convert a group of delapidated buildings into a high rise parking lot. or maybe two.

Please Mr. Prime Minister do not make the same mistake that previous government have made by letting foreigners and especially the Chinese hogg up everything. Allow all new companies coming into the Bahamas to fix their business plan where local Bahamians can buy ownership (shares) into these companies. At least to the tune of 30-50%. Create opportunities where Bahamians with financial wherewithal can also get opportunities to invest in our tourism industry. Find out why our natural resources like salt and aragonite are being stolen are pirated out of the country and local Bahamians are not benefiting. Fix the problem where Bahamians are paying some of the highest electricity bills in the region. Yet the power company is millions in debt. The electricity plant is past unreliable and antiquated and the power supply is short. And for God's sake fix the dump/fire problem. Otherwise in the next 5-10 years there will be an epidemic of cancer and lung disease in the country. And Freeport really needs help!

That was a jewel in the Bahamas government's crown empowering Many local Bahamians who held stocks and putting hundreds of thousands by way of dividends in the governments purse annually. And Perry Christie and his no conscience hoggish goons wrecked the bank. What a shame. A national disgrace even. Yet Perry Christie in the media saying 'it ain't as bad as they say it is.' So where is the good you did? Where? And Fwed Mitchell, who claims to allow reality to escape him these days. Shameless idiot claiming that the pm cannot enforce the law against corrupt, spineless dishonest looting PLP politicians who wrecked the Bahamas. May Perry, Fred, Shane Gray Halkitis, Miller Maynard-Gibson and the whole bunch never see public office again. Never, ever!

need a ride to the airport?

The comments of Fred Mitchell about financial disclosures is most sickening, disgusting but clearly sums up the personality of the PLP: they pass laws they don't intend to abide by and will scream like a lil B*tch when you try to enforce the law on them. And the reason Freddy have to go hire a consultant team to find out why him and his PLP lost the election is because he cannot go in Fox Hill like he use to. The Fox Hill guys dem tell to carry 'his funny toolbox' cause the finish with him. for tru this time.

The fact is the Chinese don't really want to open and operate no hotel. They got their claws on the property like they wanted so so hurry to go nowhere soon. Watch what is happening with the Chinese owned hotel properties in Freeport and even with the Pointe in Nassau. It's the property they want stupid. They will only complete and open if forced to. Maybe the PM will have to inteervene, eventually. Do a financial evaluation of Sarkis Izmirilian and see if he is capable of getting the properties finished and opened. Then talk to the Chinese in no uncertain terms: Get the hotels finished and opened or we will take possession of the property (legally) and find a buyer. Remember while the property is in the hands of china EXIM bank there is no 'real
creditor, so no pressure to generate revenue to pay a mortgage. And since then 'done gat" Izmirilain's $900 million, they can afford to stall.

izmirilian has all the ammunition he needs to take CCA and China EXIM bank to take the Chinese to court and prevail and easily prove that it was the construction company's incompetence and/or collusion that caused his demise with Bah Mar. But maybe he has been made timid by the previous government's last reaction to his attempt to seek justice.

@ sheeprunner you may also want to question why Jesus tolerated Judas while he knew all along what Judas was doing and what he will eventually do. Or why did he tolerate Peter who despite his unquestionable love for Chist was unfaithful and denied him. Y'all planted here to tarnish and discredit every Bahamian on the planet and try to portray this country as a failed state. But it will never happen. Your contention about Dr. Nottage should be 'despite the people he served with and despite the things they did, Dr. Notattage died with his hands clean and an untarnished reputation.'. Death for some means a lost battle..for others it is a victory.'. Where O death,is your victory? Where, O death is your sting? O grave, where is thy victory?'Does'not Paul say, ' To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord'? The Lord gives sleep to those he loves...

Sounds like they should have included a couple of web shops and a strip joint..at least to generate additional revenue.
