According to the paper trail Sky Warrior (Bahamas) is a subsidiary of Chow Tia Fook Enterprises which is owned by the Chang family in China. Of course Sky Warriors is most likely incorporated in the Bahamas for the ease of doing business and most likely the board of directors include some of the politicians who are 'intimately ' involved with the project. But based on the premise that a casino cannot be furnished and its staff be trained until a casino licenses is granted does this mean the developer had a license? He already had the casino furnished (with leased gaming equipment) and the casino staff was both trained and on the payroll. Yes this is confusing. And if you watch what is happening with the Web Casinos, they are open and operating while work is still going on.

At this point I would say let them do what is 'reasonable ' to get Bah Mar open. It is serving no purpose sitting there idle. The maintenance costs are astronomical and so is depreciation. And considering what is going on with properties in Freeport they may need a slow start up to control costs. Some feel Freeport 's problems are due to a softening tourist market. Others think it's due to lack of marketing and promotion. Hopefully the government will see wisdom and not allow construction of another hotel project of this size again, at least not to be done as a one shot deal. Several small hotels seem better than one huge one. Avoid the case of having all your eggs in one basket.

Can you guess who the PLP dug outta da closet and blew artificial air into his lungs to help starve off the attacks of Social Media and Omar Archer. Yes last name is Banister. A new web site has been created to duplicate Bahamas News Ma Bey, and showing up on Facebook accounts.,again and to launch attacks at Archer, who the site claims will be released at his next court appearance. Archer must have been throwing some heavy blows for the government to resort to their own slime page again

Bah Mar is scheduled to open 'softly' on April 21. Elections will be around the second week in May. Strangely while reading the article above when I came to the paragraph that says, "The gaming application was submitted by Chao Ti Fook..", I thought Ikaliki had hacked the Tribune.

Back in the 1980's up until almost to 2002. The Bahamas, due to the illicit drug trade and other things saw almost two decades of economic boom. Persons who were not involved in illegal drugs benefited from the excess money flowing through the economy. As did the government from booming businesses import duties the housing boom among other things. Little children walked around with $700 cell phones and they weren't even smart (the phones) and every one wore brand name clothing, so much so that police had to be called to The Tommy and Polo stores on days before holidays especially Christmas, to control the crowds of customers and keep the peace. This was the times when government should have been operating with a surplus budget, but every time a budget was presented there were provisions for borrowing money. Lots of it. And since there was lots of money flowing through the economy there was little of no accountability. Bahamas air was operating at full capacity for most of its flights both international and to the Family Islands yet it could not turn a profit. And it was not unusual to see some passengers traveling with up to 20 pieces of luggage and not paying excess baggage. Getting a government contract and not completing the work or not finishing the project on time or doing shoddy work was the order of the day. And government continued to pile debt on top of debt. They continued getting less and less value for taxpayers dollars and because of the country's credibility no one was shy to loan the Bahamas money. They there was the dual economy where foreigners came to the Bahamas and set up businesses that were automatically exempted from certain taxes and some skipped town owing millions and millions in taxes, payroll expenses and other unpaid bills. And that is how the country came to become saddled with a 7 billion dollar national debt and addicted to deficit spending. When times were good, Bahamians and the government 'pissed ' away hundreds of millions of dollars. They did not save for a rainy day. Now it's time to pay the piper. And because the government has not yet learned to set a lean and 'porkless' budget, and control spending and be accountable and curb corruption, many more hundreds of millions of the people's money is being 'pissed away."

You must agree with Christie on this and the pissing away" of government funds did not start with him

My opinion is that now that they (PLP) have foot soldiers on the ground, they are finding (a little too late) out the number of people who oppose Carnival, not only from a Christain point of view, but many feel the funds can be better used on more important matters. They are also finding out that many voters are sore about the web shops, especially on the Family Islands, where gambling addiction is almost epidemic in some places. The PLP has lost a lot of the church vote. Then there are the crime worries in New Providence and Grand Bahama, murder especially, (notice the concern about the two murdered young boys has almost been buried with them), Corruption matters in the government or, at least lack of accountability. The run-a-way national debt in spite of VAt and other taxes being introduced, the dump fires, high unemployment, especially with another 5,000 or so chirren about to get released from the school system

Then you must work wonder about the REAL reason why the event was postponed or even canceled depending on the outcome of the election. Hint: The same person responsible for setting the election date was also in eventcharge of setting up carnival. Something is wrong they now say the two events conflict

Remember too, Donald Trump was the most effective speaker during the US presidential debates, not necessarily because he was the best candidate, but because he chose to violate the rules of engagement and take his opponents out of their comfort zone. And yes he won the presidency. But with less than 100 days in the White House, almost everyone is wondering what happened to America. Will the Great Wall of Mexico ever get built and is it really to keep Mexicans out or Americans in? The effort to repeal Obamacare has hit a brick wall, so much so that Trump had to withdraw the bill to avoid it getting defeated. His strategy of personally attacking Batak Obama and making unsubstantiated allegations did not help. Then he is now calling China to basically go with him to war with North Korea. The stock market is showing sure signs of having the jitters and his near 50% cut in corporate taxes will definitely spell disaster for US government revenue as it does not guarantee a corresponding increase in business growth. An even smaller cut could produce the same result while keeping more of government revenue intact. Is Trump headed for a train wreck?
