Because she represents the government of The Bahamas who hosted the event given a ninety day window to complete preparations,

if it was incompetence the government would not have been able to resolve the problems in record times. Hosting large crowds is never an easy task and things that can go wrong often do.

Were the Jamaicans just being difficult and intentionally so? Whilst there may have been some problems that could be resolved did someone induce the Jamaicans to elevate their complaints?

The fact is the strategy that police and other officials have been using for over 30 years is not working, Scraping and scooping up dead bodies and collecting evidence and hoping to put someone before the courts charging them with murder is not working.. There has to be more pre-emptive measures, getting to the shooter/killer before he pulls the trigger. In Argentina, for example there has been a crack down on gangs and persons who are suspected of gang activity. Some 40,000 persons, mostly males have been picked up by police and are being detained. The idea is that those who are proving not to be involved in gangs. activity are being released and those who are suspicious are being detained and those who are proven to be gang members are charged and placed before the courts. those who are And once detained get a taste of what prison life or detention is about, they walk the straight and narrow once they are releases. This approach may not sit well with many Bahamians, will sooner or later, someone is going to have to make the decision to take drastic and unpopular measures to bring these killings to a halt.

Over three decades ago, Bahamians bought into the narrative that the murders were about ‘one set of bad boys ( gangs) killing up another set. They were further ‘lotioned’ and lulled into false sense of security that ‘ the general public is safe and can go about their regular activities without being in fear .’ Unfortunately this is not the case, Guns and murder have become embedded in the mainstream culture of the Bahamas and murders are now an everyday occurrence. And because of the Police’s inability to control violent crimes, many young people are seeking to arm themselves illegally to protect themselves. Many Bahamians believe justice for murders does not exist. The practice of charging suspects with murder, then releasing them on bail to be murdered a few years later is not justice. It does not bring closure. And 90 percent of persons charged with murder claim they are innocent. Government must find a way to get persons charged with murder before the courts as quickly as possible. They must be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. And once found guilty, they must be isolated from the general prison population and treated like condemn prisoners. Does it take the murder of an exceptional person with a promising future to sound the alarm of how dangerous it is for young men to live in this country ? Not only is the country losing a lot of its young men to murder , but many with means are fleeing to the US and Canada. The future of the country follows them .

Don’t worry Belinda Payne will still throw a tantrum, like a five year old, on the first day of school. Nothing is ever enough or good enough for her. Children need to get back into the classroom and catch up with two lost years.

Both Minnis and the FNM remain silent on this saga. Even after the former commissioner of police stated publicly that he had nothing to do with that exercise and that ‘ it was over his head.’ Minnis and his then FNM government owes the Bahamian people an explanation as to why they pulled the police force apart in the height of a crime crisis.

It is strange but not unusual that some with poisoned pens would seek to spread rumors and innuendo about a murder victim while facts about his untimely death are still being investigated and the family is grieving and coming to grips with their loss. What is their motive? To excite emotions and cause a rush to judgment? Miscarriage of Justice even ? Follow the advice of the minister of national security. Allow the police to fo their work and bring the persons responsible for this crime to justice. And then the Bahamian people should not accept persons being charged with the crime to be thrown in jail to be filtered out one by one and they, themselves be murdered. Wayne Munroe should ensure this case goes to trial to ensure there’s no doubt that the right persons have been charged with the crime .

The good lord did not kill Abel. Cain did. In a rage of jealousy and uncontrollable anger. And God punished Cain by putting a mark on him so that wherever he went his deed will be known. And God will also expose and punish the perpetrators of this crime. Not in our time but in his time. A day with the Lord is like 1,000 years. Condolences to the family.
