The right honorable minister of tourism Mr. Obidiah Wilchcombe' say Bahamians are not angry enough about this type of crime to want to do something about it. Killers using assault weapons at 11:00 in the high of day and chase down two men and shoot them killing one while our leaders busy planning a flipping carnival. It is not the Tribunes headlines that are screaming, it is the blood shed that is flowing like a river on the streets and byways of Bahamaland.
potcake Miller has bitten the leash that has him tied to the PLP so many times lately he is bound to become a stray dog before the next election. And no one will anxiously pick him up to put in their kennel. Now there is some scandal brewing at BEC where persons are collecting money 'money under the table', to keep certain people light on while they are also disconnecting other consumers to force them to pay to have their lights reconnected. Name the person in this department who has built and/or purchases a house plus two apartment complexes in less than five years.
Lets use the cost of 'the Shame Gibson building on JFK to set minimum wage. Start off with a cost of $5 million and end up with a cost of $32 million. Then build a second building for $20 million. So bases on this two buildings should have cost $5 million each. They end up costing $52 million or$21 million each. Now apply that to minimum wage at $150.00. Now multiply that by the 420% the buildings cost over their original value and that would give a minimum wage of $630.00! This how your government spending your money.
Even casinos are having to reconfigure their operations to accommodate the new generation and their technology. Young people are multitaskers. They don't want to sit for hours in a casino when they can gamble on their smart phone from a club, from their hotel room or even at the dinner table. So casinos have to design their operations to "catch them on the go."
Retail stores, at least many of them, will go the way of the dinosaurs. It is just too expensive to operate on the retail level and compete with persons who are selling out of their garage or bedro by way of the Internet. Some of these people have no inventory and only purchase what you order after they have your money in hand.
The premis of advertising is getting a message out there that will draw customers to your business. The purpose of having a headliner at a carnival event or concert is to use that person's fame or popularity to draw the crowds. Obie's assertion that they never intended for the headliner to dominate the event shows why the planning for carnival has run afoul. If the headliner is the most expensive item on the budgets then it better dominate. Big time. Janet jackson's fan base has dropped by almost 50 percent in five years. She has no new material and is almost unknown 'musically'. With the younger crowd. But your options diminish as every second ticks off the clock.
