Loretta Butler is a seasoned politician and she knows the nature of politics. Everything is not as it appears to be and sometimes those closest to a leadership position can be the ones most strongly rejected. Not because of any fault of their own but because that is the nature of politics.

On Griffin praise for Loretta

When Paradise Airways use to fly I always would say would not fly on that airline again when experiencing a bad landing on Paradise Island. Even though landing on a STAL craft is different from traditional landings, you could always feel when the pilot was battllng with cross wind or wind gusts on his approach. These aircraft use to 'dive' down to the runway and I always wondered how much margin there was for error or what would be the consequences if an engine 'died' when the aircraft was in this 'dive' or if a strong gust came at the wrong time..

It is this type of situations that keep BEC back and Bahamians in the dark! With fuel prices being reduced by 40% on the world market, BEC can reduce consumers light bills by 30% (the fuel surcharge is 60% of the electricity bill and should be 0 when oil hits $77.00 a barrel.) They can use the other 30% of the fuel reduction to purchase new engines over the next 12 months, which should be $15 million a month if they are purchasing $50 million of fuel a month, like the potcake says. (This will total $180 million I think they said the engines cost $200 million) Then in a year or so consumers can see an addition 30% reduction in fuel bills based on the still low price of oil and the new, more efficient engines being in operation. (engines that do not run exclusively on bunker or fossil fuel ) Then there will also be additional funds made available to settle with the unions demands.. The reasonable ones that is!

Not to mention the enviromental damage, so hopefully this is just a stage they are going thru.

It will be more like BTC, give them hefty severance packages, terminate them, then rehire them a few months later at even higher salaries.

Anyone with common sense knows that the primary reason the wealth management business has dried up in the Bahamas and Caribbean is because clients no longer feel that their investments are secure and out the reach of the United States and other countries that they may be citizens of. The United States have powers that overrule bank secrecy laws and so clients have run shy of this jurisdiction. Then there are recent money laundering laws and suspicion of funding terrorist activities legislation that give the US government even greater powers to go after suspicious bank accounts. So wealthy clients are either deciding to keep their money at home and pay tax on it or go further away to hide their money and avoid taxes on it.

Is it true that BFM was broke and in financial crisis and cannot afford to bury the victims of the plane crash. That is hard to believe. With more than 1,200 members tithing and offering from one service should cover the expenses or at least two.

Then there is Shell West and Franky Wilson overcharging the Bahamian people for fuel..and doing God knows what else to line his pockets...no way BEC should be in financial problems

The fact is many PLP supporters have short memory and blind vision. They cannot see the long term effects of what this government is doing to this country. Then they forget what they do know when the big truck with the big speakers drive by. So yes only a united opposition force can bring this PLP down. And if the economy grows in the next two plus years and unemployment is reduced then it will be more difficult to unseat them.

b a h a m a s has the highest cost of electricity in the Caribbean! Even if BEC does nothing to convert from fossil fuels, the Bahamian consumer should benefit as more countries move away from fossil fuels and the cost of oil declines. But despite the price of oil falling fourty percent since June, we are paying a higher price than ever before tor electricity. This smells rank of corruption!
