The government needs to deal with this as a sense of emergency. The baseball stadium and other unnecessary projects can go on hold until this is completed.
While in opposition, the PLP made plenty of noise. It is always easier to oppose than govern. They have also not lived up to some of their campaign promises like the Integrity Bill within 100 days of being the government. Time to stop slapping up and start governing.
A larger percentage of the profits should be required to remain in the country as a reserve. Also, all of that money was made locally therefore they should be required to give back more to the country. It is also good that they are going to stop them from discriminating against the smaller law firms. A handful of law firms control the mortgage market.
This is unbelievable. The union is acting like money is being taken away. From a year ago Atlantis told employees that they were switching to bi-monthly payments. They had numerous consultation with various groups of employees especially those in the tipping category. They said it was industry standard. Baha Mar pays bi-monthly also so what's the problem. They showed how much they were loosing in administrative cost by paying weekly. The employees will receive the same money. People just have to learn how to budget. The other issue is that they will have to pay National Insurance of the tips. This is a very small amount. However, when the time comes they will get more benefits. That would be a type of savings for them. However, Bahamians don't like to pay taxes, no matter how much or what benefits. We need a mindset shift.
Why does every discussion have to narrow down to "Foreign vs Bahamian" or "Black vs White"? Don't you think they put the contract out to open bid? Don't you know that anytime we borrow money from an international agency a prerequisite is that the contract has to be advertised in member countries that make up the bank? No one is focusing on the improvements and benefits to the judicial system. Time to grow up.
We always talking about Bahamian ownership. How come no Bahamians were able to close a deal. Most of these activists and pundits think these things are easy to do. This was a very low hanging fruit and yet no Bahamian was able to get it done. Then we wonder why we are not major payers in the hotel industry.
This report is ridiculous. It is saying that we must give up tourism and fishing if we embrace oil. Why can't all co-exist? Oil drilling is much cleaner and safer today with precision technology and spill prevention control. We have ships loaded with oil that pass through our waters every day that are a bigger threat. Let's band them and just use 100% renewable energy and put a blockade on foreign ships. We always talk about diversification but afraid to embrace opportunities. Drill baby drill.

This is really good. They need to first acquire all of the connecting properties on Oka Hill. This would allow for more stages and a dressing room.
