Sounds like government planning another trip to China with hat in hand. I'm sure they can't wait to see ya. They won't be in a lending mood this time, though. My belief is they will just come here and take-over on January 21st. The game is over, and now the whole world is going to find out just how expensive all those "cheap" Chinese goods have been over the past 30 years. We all knew there is no such thing as a free lunch, but proceeded as if we did not know. Now it is time to pay the piper.

Something happened in Wuhan (which apparently nobody cares to find out what) - and now other things are happening (which apparently nobody cares to find out why). If only Al Capone had such skills, he would have never been caught. HCQ is a bad word. Uhm. I think we've got more than words to worry about. At least we don't have any "peaceful" protesters here yet.

Condolences to his family and friends. It is sad to hear of his passing. This is the gentleman who gave us a bunch of advice back in 2013 about the upcoming VAT tax - sound advice - and I for one have been grateful that he did that. Blessings to his family.

Hopefully they each have a fixed deposit account in the amount of $2500 - to make a total of $5000 which is how much you need for a divorce in this country. Nobody getting married ever thinks they would want a divorce (otherwise they wouldn't get married, duuhhh) - but it happens. When you find yourself in that situation, even with the $5000 in cash and even with nothing in dispute such as kids of land, God help ya. You will find every obstacle known to man in your path. People wait over ten years for divorce. I've heard that now you need to make an application which has to be approved before you can even submit your Affidavit. In other words, you can't even file for divorce - you need to ask permission to be able to file. Huh??? You hear all kinds of stories. You think talking to a lawyer will help? Nope. They can't give you any information about the procedure, i've heard that is called "collusion." So all you can do is pay your money and pray. I implore anybody thinking of getting married in this country - to think twice, thrice, and whatever the word is for 4 times. If you still aren't wise enough to decide "NO" - then at least go to Miami to do it. Note carefully, that those are my opinions based on rumors that i have heard and my inability to find facts. If you are able to find facts that make it seem sound to you - then by all means proceed (and for God's sake publish the facts in the newspaper so that everyone else can know them).

A lot of us Bahamians have practiced family planning and tried to get our kids to grow up and be educated and start new businesses and try to get our country out of just being reliant on tourism. However, in response, both government parties have responded to our efforts by bringing in cheap labour from abroad to compete with us. They have chosen quantity over quality - and so not we have very little quality. It was a choice. Here we are.

We can safely predict a "D average" (as always) due to the presence of the letter "E" in the grading system. Why not add two more letters and make the average an "F" ???? If "D" is acceptable, why not "F" ? Can we think of some other ways we can break the morale of our youth? Can we think of some other creative ways we can destroy our future?

With the stroke of a pen this grading system could be changed. Why is it not? What is the true reason that a "D'" average is forced upon our youth? Is it to ensure we have enough people to clean hotel rooms?

The whole world grades A, B, C, D, F.
C is in the middle - thus "Average". Why do we have to be different and stupid? The idea of "independence" has gone to our heads to our own detriment.

This virus started after China signed the Phase One trade agreement with the USA. There is nothing we can do about it here in the Bahamas. This war is being waged by the big boys. We have to wait and see what happens on Nov 3rd. If Biden wins, the virus will magically disappear in about 2 weeks. If Trump wins, the virus will continue and intensify. Will Americans have the guts to fight such a tough war for their freedom? Do they have the morals and stamina that their grandparents and great grandparents had in World War 2? The war currently being fought is just as serious, and has the potential to become as deadly - it simply lacks army tanks, and air force bombs. The damage is inflicted none the less.

China's unmitigated control over world trade has been the status quo for decades. Almost everything you touch is "Made in China". Now that someone is standing up to them (just like what happens to anyone who stands up against injustice like the people of Little Harbour, Abaco are now doing) - they face ridicule and various tactics being used against them.

"Demonized" is the word. How many people hate Donald Trump? Lots. There is a reason for that, and a method used to make them think that way. It's called the television and the social media networks. A well known quote from the famous movie Citizen Kane goes "The people will think what I tell them to think." Some groups want the people to think Trump is bad. This has not been working so well with the excellent economy these past few years, but now Covid is here - coincidence?

China does not want Trump to win re-election. Who knows what sacrifice they are willing to make to ensure he does not? Similar to the old Vegas slogan.......What happens in Wuhan, stays in Wuhan. Interesting how that story just seems to have died and gone away.

Mr. Smith, as the Bahamas continues its unbridled race toward becoming an exact photocopy of Haiti, you (and others) can look forward to further limits on various rights, etc.

The question, of course, is where are we going to set sail to on our Bahamian sloops? What will be our compass heading (if we can even afford to buy a compass).
