Maybe just maybe a few of our young people will watch and understand the relationship between their behavior and the consequences - Its hardly graphic and channel 19 has worse images but its real - its close to home and hopefully we can all be jolted into understanding that people are being murdered around us - daily - This is not in the inner city but minutes from Sandy Port in the West - steps away from a bank that you might use and a few yards from a foodstore that you frequent and a restaurant where you take your children - do we not yet understand that we are in crisis? Do we not understand that this is happening in every neighbor HOOD and btw check the headline, its also happening in broad daylight - you, we, me - collectively we are in crisis!! Time to take action, time to demand more of our courts, our parliament, our police and most importantly of ourselves and our children....
I got no problem with the Boards being comprised almost entirely of PLP's but should the country suffer from the desire to reward your friends and punish your enemies?? Godrey Eneas is a great Bahamian but does he need to be on four boards? Phil Galanis is great choice on the trade commission but who are the others and what are they qualified to do?? - These are serious appointments and our failure to insist on using the best Bahamians available to us is a mistake that will soon bear fruit
Whose advising these guys - Its a horrible location - the place is too large and not even the people from the hood want to shop in the hood - You wont compete and will die a financial death
Tal, where you all get it wrong is that NOT ONE of these business are licensed as number houses - They are licensed as web cafe's - Today we use the terms interchangeably but the excuse for the licensing authority is that web cafe's are legitimate businesses and do provide a legitimate and legal service - The option to go ahead and use the license to illegally operate a gambling enterprise from your web cafe is where the law is broken. I dare someone to show a license for selling numbers?
I am glad that your lobby has become organized in your effort to legalize gambling in The Bahamas - We are also grateful for the information as to where all of the money is so that the Police might go and collect these proceeds from crime -LOL - But seriously, your effort will go no where if your only point is that you provide jobs and pay bills - There is a higher moral argument about my individual right to engage in an activity of my own free will and right to choose - i personally believe that this should be a matter of choice BUT equally I hope that the criminals currently engaged are banned from participating in the business if and when legalized.
Can a generator running on bunker C be converted to run on LNG - I am not sure but I doubt it highly - So Mr. Chairman, how does you broke corporation afford to make the conversion to new generators that will burn this cheaper fuel? Petrocaribe was a loan programme and while it hedged some prices it has not created any huge benefits to the current signatories and begs the question as to whether we want to owe Chavez - Check the Caribbean signatory prices at the pump and it is very similar to ours even though there consumption is lower - I suggest he stops the big promises and focuses and what he can contribute - A finalized energy policy, a range of incentives for solar at least for water heating and incentives for individuals and firms that can afford it to make investments in wind and tidal - Speak to conservation and launch a national program to teach conservation. #mytwocents
