The same is happening to UK high street shops. The local authorities make travel and parking so difficult and expensive. Why struggle to go into town or Nassau from the out islands when you can compare prices and order from your armchair. Both in the Bahamas and UK the authorities live for the moment but when a business shuts down then rates and taxes are lost.

Just to add that in the UK the tablet for every student was tried---- It didn't work.

What utter bullshit. Firstly they recruit Cuban teachers often not qualified in the subject they teach when there are qualified teachers on the island requesting employment or re-employment. To a large extent that nonsense can be attributed to the last Deputy Director and Director of education . As for all this Cable Bahamas equipment maybe the Minister should look at the previous computerized report card system which failed or the expensive interactive large screen TV with controls for each pupil. Most failed, were broken or not used. Then consider the general poor quality of Principals who will fail to secure this equipment and see stuff walk out the door by pupils and staff. Whilst the Minister is spending all this money there are workshops and Chemistry labs with outdated or no supplies. There are buildings that leak, the Testing and Evaluation Dep can't get coursework out to the high schools on time and this year was months late. As for advertising-most positions are who you know not what you know just like Principals often direct new technology to their favorite teachers or subject areas.

Sheerunner , still blaming the colonial system. How many years before you and people like you grow up and change things after all you have been independent for over 30 years. Is it the colonials fault that even after 20 + years the BGCSE exams are still being moderated by Cambridge in the UK, Is it the colonials fault that the Testing and evaluation unit in Nassau cannot get coursework out to the schools for 3 months after school opens in September ?. Bahamians have the controls - use them

The President will always find money for her trips abroad and cronies. The old school female teachers seem to ignore the smoke that has continually surrounded her.

So you want Fweddy back with all his eye watering financial trips, or more trips to China first class or more piles of curry for the never to be built hospital in Eleuthera. Yes the FNM needs to re-evaluate but to even consider voting in the last bunch of incompetent crooks defies belief.

Yes BUT they should be taxed and licensed just as Hotels are. Not a level playing field.

With all due respect he has inherited a mess but the Minister is talking nonsense. You would be quicker strapping your letters to a turtle for delivery rather than this mess of a Post Office. As for shredding mail if you believe for one moment that everything shredded is undeliverable then the men in white coats need to talk to you. Fact I had an international newspaper subscription years ago. Received two and then nothing else. Newspaper company traced every delivery to Nassau Post office. Fact #2. Had a subscription to auto magazine. Never received one. So not only are P.O. employees not doing their job some are also pilfering periodicals and the like. For any business to rely on sending bills out by mail then it is the road to ruin.

I agree with the rule about dressing decently as the implication is that brief or revealing clothing is sexually suggestive. Fine but so hypocritical when we have school dances where the dancing is often vertical sex, Junkanoo which is way suggestive, as is much of the public -adult organized dancing shows put on by schools and other bodies. If you have 5- 10 year olds girating in minimal clothing at public functions how do you expect them to do better when older
