Not true, most teachers are hard working but the BUT exec's are so busy mismanaging finances and fighting amongst themselves that little of note ever gets done.
The reality is that there are so many hidden stealth taxes that have been quietly imposed. Customs handling fee $10 even though you are paying a broker. Disposal tax even though stuff just goes to the dump like it used to do. Stamp taxes, Government fees on credit card use. Customs inspection charge AND customs attendance charge ??????????????? VAT applied not only on the value of goods and transport costs but calculated on the customs fees as well--- double taxation.
The more you take out of circulation and waste the less there is to allow people to buy and invest. However the PLP has a dismal record of corruption, wasteful spending and chronic mismanagement of money so what alternative do we have ?
How about becoming a colony again ? Lets face it throw Minnis out and you have Fweddy and his bunnch of finacially incompetant idiots back on the gravy train.
Thisissours, not even the most competant CEO can ovetcome ancient generaors without cash reserves to replace them. Old attitude of those in power - if it runs howver bad leave it alone and waste the cash on wasteful projects.
Protocol my backside. In nighttime emergency flights from the family islands, permission has to be given from Nassau to authorize the turning on of lights and then someone has to go and switch them on. By the time that happens the plane would be down.
This is the result of years of poor management and political interference resulting in a "its running so lets ignore it" attitude. Look in a Bahamian dictionary and the word "maintenance" is probably missing . A side effect not mentioned is that yes you give relief in the form of a zero VAT levied on bills of 300 BUT shops with freezers and other suppliers have to increase costs because they certainly can't keep below 300.00.
Point taken but any government should take steps to even the economic playing field and make home grown products more affordable. Lower costs equal lower prices which equal better sales and more jobs.
I love it-Fred telling this government to live up to its commitments. PLP squandered money left right and center and just one of Freds money wasting trips could have kept this center going for a year at least. On the flip side yes the government should pay u.
