Here on Eleuthera a vast expanse of land has been purchased and cleared for a so called "hospital". There is no doctor on Eleuthera bar Doctor Smith based in Rock Sound who is being worked to death, many clinics do not have even sufficient oxygen supplies and insufficient number of nurses. There are unopened mini hospitals on Exuma and Abaco yet in their blind stupidity this farce continues. If you can't staff and supply a clinic how the hell can you operate a mini hospital.
Typical third world politics where the leader doesn't know when to bow out gracefully. Does he forget one of his cabinet saying that the party faithful got contracts before anyone else. How about two expensive new clinics in Abaco and Exuma never opened yet proposing another clinic in Eleuthea -sorry mini hospital ????
If anyone believes that permit fees collected will go into a special fund then they must be on drugs. Remember the notice posted in customs offices for public viewing " from day one of VAT implementation the government of the Bahamas will start to pay down the national debt". National debt has increased in spite of record tax collection including VAT.
I know of several Government offices where the employees have absolutely nothing to do and often sit at a desk watching a video on their lap top. Add to that buildings that are rented from the private sector in often lay empty.
Who are the incompetent's who are unable to stock take and plan ahead ? Another government rip of is the fact that any vehicle licence should be 12 months from the date of issue not backdated to the last vehicle licence .
Funny how when there is a hurricane premiums go up but when there are all those years hurricane free premiums don't go down. Coupled with this I personally know of persons who suffered damage in recent hurricanes that persuaded the assessors to pay for pre hurricane damage such as swelling re bar in columns. In truth it is so expensive that if you put the premium away for 2 - 3 years there will be more than enough to do most repairs including the roof.
Any value placed upon any property is only relevant on market prices and at the moment selling property for what its worth is difficult. The population is being forced to pay for the black hole of government finances and lavish wasteful spending.
Yeah be fruitful and multiply then accept the social consequences of single parent upbringing, unemployment and uneducated children. And stop blaming the white man for every mistake that Bahamians have made since independence. Just look at Zimbabwe and many other countries that went downhill after independence. People like you are like kids who want to leave home then screw up and blame everybody else when you leave.
