I am sure the Levy Foundation has lots of money. Q. is, how much would they want to spend on buying a piece of land and competing with Disney? As we all know, the price of a property with planning permission and one without are 2 completely different things. I am sure that the owners have done a deal with Disney to sell it for far more if planning suiting Disney's needs is granted. If it is not, the property has very marginal value. Would Levy or anyone else pay the same price for the property as Disney with planning? Obviously not by a factor of probably x20.

Their proposal is valued at $23m.

Between them, they have enough money in the bank to buy a pizza.

Guess who they want to pony up the $23m? Yup, you and me.

"Environmentalist" seems to be the new synonym for leech.

That this country has some really stupid laws is beyond argument.

But what is also beyond argument is that 400,000 people cannot allow the unfettered illegal migration of potentially millions of Haitians (or others), which would swamp the country completely.

The only practical solution is to pick a date out of thin air (say 1st Jan 2018?), regularize everyone who was here then, grant them citizenship and then actually enforce immigration laws and allow no more illegal immigration.

But to do that, you would have to have a functioning Immigration Department, Police Force, RBDF and government bureaucracy in general. Which we will never have. Maybe we should import 1,000 Swiss citizens and let them do the job, because Bahamians....no chance.

That has to be the most ridiculous hat I have ever seen.

"In the end, the story ends with the final chapter it was destined to have from the moment it began."

Not only has it not ended - there will still be plenty of twists and turns, no doubt. Nygard has proven that we are a country and a people for sale for a handful of $$$. That Justice can be put off by decades by a bunch of bought and paid for cronies is an indictment of our society like no other.

And where are those same cronies? Still on TV, spouting their rubbish for whoever pays the most. What a sad bunch we are.

You don't want a private port owned by Disney? No problem. Set up a public company, get Bahamians to invest equity into it and build the port and then rent it out to Disney.

“If the Planning and Subdivisions Act was properly applied, the director of physical planning becomes one of the most important persons that every domestic and foreign developer must turn to. It’s a very powerful position that all the non-statutory executive agencies will have to turn to.”

You mean yet another person you need to bribe if you want to get anything done in this swamp?

Brilliant idea. We are totally unfit to run a piss up in a brewery, let alone a sovereign country. I for one would not mind not going to vote every few years if it meant that things ran properly. This democracy thing is vastly over-rated.

Retail in the Bahamas is dead and there is nothing anyone can do to revive it. Nothing.

It is so much cheaper and more convenient to shop on Amazon and have it delivered here by courier. I buy nothing but groceries in the Bahamas any more. And even those I am beginning to get delivered in bulk once a year for anything that is non-perishable.

If I were a retailer I would simply close up shop. There is NO hope. This is what progress looks like.

Anything is possible. But do you not think he would have picked an easier target for that? At a different time, in a different place? This was hard. Sounds like a targeted execution to me....but anything is possible with all these dopeheads about.
