Everyday, it is becoming more and more evident, that the Dinosaur Politicians (dinopol) need to retire. All of our Prime Ministers, (current and former) were essentially cut from the same cloth when it come to how to run a government, this may have been great for 1973 - 1978, however, in today's global economy and digital age this will not work, we're eating our own hands, we have an internal virus, we have a huge systematic problem within both our governing parties of the past 41 years, corruption. We (Bahamas) like in the movie 2012 are heading towards a cliff or into a mountain because something small is failing, and threatening this great technologically advance ship, our future or hope our destiny. It's corruption. cronyism, this is the 'object' currently 'stuck' in the gears on our ship, preventing our more than powerful engines from starting. No matter who is on the ship, regardless of belief, creed, nationality, political party affiliation, or the pigment in ones skin or the lack thereof; if we do not get those engines started, as a nation we will perish. Where are the great ideas? the S.T.E.M programs/Graduates? Why are we (The Government) continuing to build a system of dependency rather than creating avenues for regular citizens to survive from self sufficiency? vat will greatly harm the poor! many 'leaders' choose to use the word "may' instead of 'will'. the rich will not pay taxes (See U.S.A) The rich hire smart attorneys and tax accountants to avoid paying taxes, I totally understand this. We have no middle class or a rapidly evaporating middle class, therefore the greater majority will be the more economically challenged citizen of The Bahamas. Taxing was originally implemented in England to fight wars, Why do we need tax in The Bahamas? Simply because, we have/are borrowing too much or other peoples money, no vision and too much corruption, no new 21st century bold ideas from leaders of our Government simply because they are respectfully, dinopol's. Old and need to be replaced and not by their relatives or their proteges (whom they groom to be the same) but by grass roots Bahamians whom interest is not above the nation itself. Like the movie 2012, it will take someone risking their own life, and unknowingly the life of their offspring, to just clear the gears to get our ship in reverse and moving towards the right direction, our Cape of good Hope, IMHO, this begin with the implementation of the FOIA. A clean, uncensored, Freedom Of Information Act, will clear the air for the past 41 years, many who have mastered the art of deception the TRUTH will now come to light, not accusations from another party but, Bahamians themselves will have the ability to read about the object that has been stuck in the gears of MV/ Bahamaland for the past 41 years. cronyism and corruption. ***we are better than this***
When the law treats law abiding citizens like criminals and criminals are treated like law abiding citizens. When you obey the law and the law brutalize and humiliate you. But this is somewhat expected now, 'porridge' runs down hill. There's pressure from the top because of recent statistics and outcry from the public on crime, these men are just foot soldiers, however very untrained and disrespectful it seems. The goal of our LEO's should be to get the general public on their side to help them with the war on crime, community service based policing works! One have to ask would they prefer to: Win the war and loose the battle or win the battle and loose the war, or loose BOTH the war and the battle? With this type of behavior, the latter can be predicted to be a certain outcome.
The U.S assessment of the Bahamas maybe correct, this is a known problem for years to those in The Bahamas, however Uncle Sam need to remove that huge white bolder in it's eyes too. The 'Good Ole Boys' network in the U.S is strong, connected and powerful and corrupt as ever. Ironically this assessment maybe good for The Bahamas because to have a "come one come all, come on in, just as you are without one plea" attitude can eventually lead to history repeating itself, instead of the British, this time its the Americans. I am not against foreign investments, but we need to educate our electorate, we need to make education OUR greatest investment, this is for the survival of our nation and culture. With the increasingly rapid divide between the rich and poor and the systematic annihilation of the middle class, The Bahamas is on a path of civil war. Religion no longer can pacify the poor to be comfortable. There are many documentation to prove this. We (The Bahamas) are at both a huge advantage and disadvantage because of our close proximity to the U.S. We should use this as an advantage and educate our citizens, or, soon our rich educated neighbors will buy all 700 Islands. Educated women/girls/men/boys will make better decisions in finance, family, work ethics and yes, the worse of all political choice and expectation of those in our Government. education is still the key to a successful nation/people.
Very interesting, it must have been an intense discussion to come up with this idea. Am sure many 'lawmakers' politicians and their cronies, who benefit from crime and representing criminals in court in this country are very sad of this ruling.
Technology is great, but can also be a doubled edge sword. It's great for moving our country into the 21st century and on par with the Global economy, however, when you have these smart ivy league foreigners and diplomats negotiating with our shortsighted dinosaur politicians with law degrees before the Mac was invented in Steve Job's Garage, we (Bahamas) will always get the 'smelly' end of the stick. Importing foreigners to do so many sensitive positions because we refuse to fully educate the masses in our Bahamaland will be our down fall. it will soon be from top to bottom- forigners + political puppets+ illegal aliens (you know they love cheap slave labor) + regular bahamians. i've live in the U.S over 20 years, and my allegiance & nationality will ALWAYS be Bahamas! I told my kids they are Bahamian/Americans. It's sad having to live in another country to fully educate myself and my family being a 'regular' Bahamian. We keep recycling the same surnames in politics in the Bahamas, simply because they have education and opportunity. In conclusion, IMHO, a good education in a country with such strong dollar and less than 250,0000 citizens, should be FREE. (Education added to tax) but lets be honest this may never happen, when politicians and their cronies rob the Bahamas treasury, giving credit, not paying their own bills, while totally ignoring the electorate for 4 1/2 years, then 6 months before election, they are magically always available to "hear all their cries". In a 21st century democracy giving grown a** men a case of Kalik and grown a** women a GMO infused turkey for their vote and they DO end up voting for them because of such kind gesture by the Minister; I hate to sound pessimistic but unless something miraculous take place and we remain on this course? we're screwed!
In a democracy, when FOIA is law, the country prosper in many ways. Within just a few weeks, due to good investigative journalism, taxpayers (You and me) have been paid almost half a million dollars! (what we know about) This should give Bahamians a tastes of FOIA, don't stop the music, whether is's political or not, my Grandmother (god bless her soul) use to say: A liar is a thief and a thief is a murderer. When journalist have freedom to report the news and not be a propaganda machine this is what you get. I am not naive, obviously it appears to be political, but the 'other' party has a major new network in their pockets too, so, divide them (politicians) and rule THEM. #KeepThePressureOnThem
Let's be honest about this character, he's white (don't kid yourself it DOES matter to these political impersonators inferior mentality) rich! Very influential, business savvy and may have incriminating 'dirt' or 'dutt' (your preference) on many of our leaders, political, religious or otherwise. However, from a religious or biblical perspective he's an idolater a whore-monger etc, however when you have politicians and religious leaders begging for his money, and in return 'cover' him and protect him like many of The Rt. Rev. Dr. of the Bahamas, and the Min. this and Hon. That, what do you expect? My Grandmother (Bless her heart) once told me, " Boy you are judged by the company ya keep!" Hmmm I rest my case...
Respectfully, can we agree to disagree, that the Doctor is way over his head? Minister of National Security?? What happen to former LEO's? isn't this Gentleman (a word I use very direct) a Gynecologist or something? Has the talent pool run dry for specific talents in The Bahamas? or politician and their crony's have everything on 'lock?' We really need to push for FREE good quality education in our Bahamaland, or we'll keep recycling the some old 'door-stoppers' and their spawn every election cycle.
Talking 'bout the Fox guarding the Hen house. Why launch an investigation into who 'leak' this information? whether the motive was political or someone who works at BEC who have been blamed by Min.Miller for not collecting BEC payments from customers, deciding to risk their job doing their duty to The Black, Aquamarine and Gold rather than political party; is just just a waste of taxpayers money and a genius way to intimidate others from doing what is right. What is the 'crime' done? BEC, which the Executive Chairman railed recently about employee not collecting and giving breaks to subscribers, turns out the amount pale in comparison to the $100K his own daughter just paid and still owes basically the same balance! Now I hope my fellow Bahamians now begin to taste what the FOIA will do for our developing democracy. Hypocrisy is hypocrisy! Min. Miller, who quite well knew and probably signed of on his family business owing BEC so much money, while blaming the cashiers and others SHOULD resign! On another note, one of my greatest Bahamian Hero was LOP, regardless of his flaws, he was Black, (not that it mattered if he was 'white') unapologetic, brilliant and had great charisma, that said Dame. Margaret, please pay your bill, seriously, the surname Pindling in the Bahamas, is like the Bushes here in the U.S, in other words, influential, elite, politically connected and wealthy, we know you are connected enough to have it 'disappear', but do the right thing! Dame Margaret it WAS a secret, it's not anymore, please do the right thing, after all the same money you will pay to correct this obvious 'mistake' will be paid back to you from the taxpayers coffer in the near future. bravo! bravo! to good investigational journalism! Now, Where are the 'OTHERS' skeleton? Looking forward to it! Thanks!
