Sounds like a great idea! Technology is most definitely the way to go, but when the politicians who make the final decision and their crony's are from the 70's and still operate with 1973 mentality how can we make this happen? Pay foreigners to operate it after getting their cut under -the-table? That said I hope the persons 'behind the monitors' will not be the same as the ones currently and shamelessly monitoring the criminals electronic ankle bracelets in The Bahamas. SMH, Exasperating!

#“Mr Smith said: “How could a child that age get into that club, that’s what I want you to print. How could she get in that club? No way was she supposed to be in that club. If they had checked she would never have been in the club.”

#“They should have had security, and check to see who going in that club. There should be some restrictions around there. How could she get in that club with no one stopping her?”

#Mr Smith admitted that Alexis had a troubled past, and was not going to school at the time of her death. He added that she had been sent to Nassau twice to the Industrial School for Girls for “behavioural issues”........ blame, blame, blame, everyone but the parents! Although this is a very situation, my prayers goes out to the family. With such immature and reckless comments by this 'sperm donor' it more than obvious he should not been having kids at 21 and definitely not in his 60's. SMDH

My fellow Bahamians, please keep in mind that all of our political leaders are friends and associates, plp, fnm, dna or any others it really don't matter. They are all part of the same organizations, fraternities, lodge and other secret/not secret organizations; the 'dislike' they portray in public is just a pageant for you the voters to see. So, let's not get too hot and bothered 'defending' a political party because it's all part of the "divide and rule" strategy. I know what you say "but they're black" I say to you They are politicians! This is why not everyone can be a politician. As long as we continue to fight each other defending these political parties and not defending our Bahamaland, we will continue to get more of the same cronyism. Not FNM, PLP or DNA but The bahamas needs more jobs for it's citizens, effectively tackle crime and improve our judicial system including getting RID of the Privy council, need to stop operating in a deficit while borrowing these peoples money, develop another strong industry other than Tourism etc, etc. When we have Extremist Party-line Voting that does not care about their political 'leaders' record or ideas as long as they/you belong to the same political party do not expect the politicians to do better and bahamas to get better! (((we are better than this)))

AMEN!!! Brother/Sister(don't know if you're male of female)... If The Bahamas was to put just as much energy in educating our citizens as they do in Religion/Indoctrinating our citizens, not only will this LGBT be a non-issue, Tourism will not be our only industry, crime rate will go down drastically, poverty will really be a matter of individual choice, our non existent middle class will become existent, Every island in The Bahamas will have some kind of self sustainable industry, VAT will NOT be needed, Divorce rate will go down (happy people are happy people single or married) and my favorite and politicians greatest fear, an educated majority is hard to control or be taken advantage of. But politicians pretend they don't, but they love the combination that makes our majority, 1. heavily Indoctrinated 2. Poor 3. Uneducated. I am inspired reading these post, for a minute I was starting to think it was just me feeling duped with his religious ideology growing up in The Bahamas, now, no so much, like one of the comment above stated
"Religion IS a lifestyle". I applaud my fellow Bahamians for not only realizing, but standing up to the Bahamas 'Christian' Council and Politicians Mafia tactics to control the finances in The Bahamas. Oh, to all the religious/homophobic nuts am a straight, educated male with a family, married and not feeling threaten whether a potcake decides to marry a rooster. Ok, so can we (The Bahamas) now start focusing on Abuse? sexual, physical, mental etc, etc? Thanks!

Hmm, I have to agree with some of the comment on here that the schizophrenic uncle analogy is not the best. Simply put, if the bible is your personal guide and law, then eat and live ALL of it! that is YOUR right and while I may/may not agree with you i will defend your right to do so, i however, expect the same, it is my right too. That said, if many of you who were truly 100% (which is impossible) living according to ALL laws of the bible, why are you on here commenting? or is there a verse in the bible about commenting on tribune242.com? Organize religion today is like political parties there are those on the 'left' those on the 'right' and then there are those in the 'center'. There are those who want society to remain the same and those who want society to evolve, in a democratic society just ONE of the two are usually successful without chaos. Humans adapt, is call "survival of the fittest" to remain stagnant we will DIE...

Cont'd When issues like this comes up people like you HAVE to speak up! but thankfully you are NOT our government! This is not a theocracy, it's amazing how people like you and others are so quick to condemn others, when you suppose to be a light! How many of your church members have LEGAL 'sinful' professions? casinos, number houses, breweries what about illegal 'sinful' professions? do you reject their tithes and offering or do you pay your mortgage with it? Religion is a multi-billion dollar business, it's one of the easiest way to get rich, and gain status! I must say as much as many are now wising up to and learning the history of organize religion (by-the-way, you cannot learn this by reading the bible) not to mention how bold and scandalous religious leaders are; many have turn away from organize religion! Religion in The Bahamas are just like Fox News, YOU have an ideological agenda and as possessive, influential and mainstream as you may be your regression tactics DO NOT represent us, regardless of what you quote it from! This is why our young people are so angry and frustrated in The Bahamas, when I was growing up the older people had a saying that goes "Pig Grow Hog" well, you had many years to train your pigs, with globalism and burst of the information age many of the 'pigs' are now educated hogs, and the current 'pigs' are bold, progressive, tolerant and inspired about having a future competing globally, the 'problem' is many are not given a chance, Hypocritical Religious leaders and old crooked politicians have a chokehold on our bright young minds, many have to seek freedom in other countries! This is sad! Just look at the statistics of old men, with young girls AND boys! Sadly many of us young people are waiting on many of these crooked and connected old cronies to die! Then there is still just a 50/50 chance because they groom and pass it down to their kids! In Conclusion, It is good to have 'the church' in our Bahamaland, however, The Bahamas is not, and never will be a Theocracy!

Dear Dehavilland Moss, Respectfully, it seem like you are trying your best to 'play it safe' and not offend either side of the isle, I can understand that and will defend your right to say it, however many Bahamians reject your subtle indoctrinating arguments and refuse to be 'controlled' by an organized religion, many who 'leaders' have a theoretical moral compass but are practically incompetent and hypocritically embarrassing.
Really? so slavery was better? was it ok that 'Massa' could not physically constrain you or rule you therefore forcefully fed you religion to make you mentally subordinate? Being more tolerant (like Jesus, if you will) of many things these days, It's call evolving, or do you still have your 8 track player? Where were you the past 40 years? in a tomb? This has been happening before, during and after the "preamble in our constitution" was 'enshrined'. So what do that say of YOUR standards? because it seem like for us to believe that your standards came from a two thousand year old book with many purposefully missing pages and many different interpretation] Seriously, if you 'christian' religious leaders was doing such a great job, why is the Bahamas in it's current state of moral decline, chaos and no standards according to you? It's written in the Bahamas constitution! plus 'Christian' Religious leaders, though different denominations (one God, many denominations, Hmmm) had a monopoly on religion in The Bahamas! at least when I was living there in the 80's and 90's what happened? let's be honest here, many of you got rich! now, when you talk it's not about morals per se, it's about status and hush money, selling more of you, imho, respectfully, many 'religious' leaders have become publicity whores similar to Kim Kardashian and Snookie!

We have been in the Tourism industry too long to still be leading from behind, Farmers on Fertile Islands with acres of unused land like Grand Bahama, Acklins, Andros should be encourage by our Government to grow Marijuana, this will certainly encourage many (including myself) to move back to the outer Islands to start businesses and raise our family rather than piling up in Nassau getting shot at and robbed! It will be a while before Southern states and many other 'conservative' countries legalize MJ, legalizing MJ in the Bahamas will create a windfall, the cost of weekend and overnight tickets sales from these states and countries will skyrocket! And I KNOW Bahamasair NEEDs this! Don't mind the Bahamas 'Christian' Council, they're having their own internal problems, not to mention more money in the collection plate everyone happy! Whats the difference? do we have any proof that tithes and offering never came from prostitution? Alcohol? Murder? Robbery? lets not kid ourselves! Alcohol is rampant and has no medicinal purpose regardless of how many 'stitchy' you drink! lets get real, legalize MJ and put many of these young men to work! It's just amazing how our laws and the residual effects, mimic those in Southern States. I can send my 12 year old daughter to the corner store to buy alcohol, this product kills millions per year around the world, but a 'harmless' plant, which have PROVEN medicinal purpose everyone and their momma will be incarcerated? What is this? economic cleansing? rich getting richer, poor getting poorer and dying young from stress, bullets or otherwise? The rich, (and rightfully so) will find some loophole to pay little or nothing and our middle class is almost nonexistent so rather than taxing the poor (VAT) to pay for our deficit from borrowing all those people's money, who really are just waiting for The Bahamas to mess up like Jamaica, let be progressive (hint, hint our governing party should embrace this). The Borrower is SLAVE to the lender...we are better than this!!!

This is a waste of time!! A waste of taxpayers money! When will our leaders stop relying on Tourism only? When will we stop being 'slaves' to these hypocritical laws to please the U.S.A? Colorado and others are raking in the cash from the Marijuana industry, this is my frustration with these old, conformed, crooked politicians running the Bahamas! We need more young people who know how to think outside the box. Grand Bahamians are hurting, 20% unemployment, hotels closing, community activist getting arrested, this is nonsense! Our politicians are looking more and more like "Southern Politicians" in the U.S states like Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky and others. Hotel Grand opening today, Grand closing next year. Nassau is small claustrophobic and had too many people! plus 2 multi billion dollar behemoth, when are these politicians going to start 'spreading the wealth' in The Bahamas? How many more young men are we going to arrest and disenfranchise? Where are they going? back into society, even more damage and hopeless than before they were arrested! We are 'shooting ourselves in the foot'. Legalizing, taxing and regulating a controlled Marijuana industry in the Bahamas will be a HUGE boost in tourism dollars and local dollars! Tourism is a very competitive and vulnerable business we saw this with the fake Cuban beating video last year.

Cont'd Education in Science, Math, English, Biology, not theology but also The History Of Different Religions/Belief Systems etc will create a rising tide that will lift ALL boats. Again, I think trying to "educate" Bahamians many, who are uninformed and to be quite honest uneducated will look more like you're trying to indoctrinate them, there will be fire and brimstone raining from the pulpit daily! which may slow down your cause and may even create more 'flack'. On another note, just like in the black community here in America, there are Decent Black Folk, and then there are N***ers; the LGBT community has the same problem and it too hinders your movement, intentionally pissing off people who you THINK may not like your lifestyle is futile, so respectfully, I personally think when it comes to "educating" it should be also in your community. No Government can legislate love for another human if people do not choose to except or like them, just look at slavery and the Southern states. In conclusion, IMHO, I again, fault many in the LGBT community who know of many homosexuals in the two most powerful organizations that can make or break their cause (Religion and Politics) leaders and Lawmakers who actually have the means to make change but REFUSE and LGBT members the same ones who want "freedom" lower their standards and become "secret" lovers to the one who can make change but refuse to. Also, create a young powerful voting block, there are many Bahamians who are not gay who will support your movement! Finally to seek Asylum in another country, when the local LGBT organization have no clue of the situation is suspect. Good luck!
