Financial stress from the failed policies of PLP and FNM governments;
Corrupt politicians and their greedy business cronies who have robbed our Public Treasury through the non-payment of their taxes and the stealing of Crown Land by hook or crook;
More crooked than honest lawyers and a very poorly managed judiciary;
Many known murderers on the loose throughout our society as a result of a failed criminal justice system and an ancient prison system that must let one murderer out to make room for another coming in;
Exceptionally high probability of death by bullet;
BEC power outages;
Failed public educational system with more children of non-Bahamian ancestry than Bahamian thanks to our porous borders and failed policies at stemming the tide of illegal immigrants (inability of our children to get a good education or much needed quality medical care);
Never ending toxic fumes from a smouldering public dump;
Inability to buy exorbitantly priced (low quality) fruits, vegetables, and nuts; Outrageous fees charged by banks for just about any B$ transaction; Ceaseless water supply pressure and water quality problems;
and at least one thousand and one other life shortening factors and conditions that hard working honest bahamians must confront day after day!
Smith (like Billy Boy) neglects to point out that as part of the concessions granted to the big tourism players like Atlantis (and no doubt BahaMar to come), they are not required to have their foreign currency (U.S. dollar) revenues flow into the Bahamian banking system and be under the control of the Central Bank of The Bahamas as regards the remittance of dividends on their profits to foreign investors. Instead, these big tourism players are allowed to bank a very significant portion of their revenues outside of the Bahamas and free of any control by our exchange control regime. Meanwhile, the Bahamas must somehow come up with the foreign currency (U.S. dollars) necessary to maintain the infrastructure that these big tourism players enjoy, e.g. power supplied by BEC, water supplied by Water & Sewerage, Waste disposal systems for garbage produced by these hotels, etc. etc. We would have an abundance of foreign currency reserves were it not for the currency control exemptions granted in the very generous concessions given to the foreign owned big players in our tourism industry. Bottom line is that the likes of Smith and Billy Boy have been instrumental in the policy decisions that have put great pressure on our foreign currency reserves over the years.

Bahamas PM and DPM meet with savvy Jewish business person. Sounds like a sure fire recipe for the Bahamian taxpayer getting royally screwed over when it comes to the future price and/or usage of that basic necessity in life known as WATER!
Come on Mr. Christie.....step up to the plate and take the bad news on the chin! You were only too quick to recently talk about RBC's opening of a new branch which will in fact not add one Bahamian employee to the overall head count of RBC in the Bahamas!! As for you Mr. Pinder, the Bahamas has never had a more incapable, bungling, incompetent Minister of Financial Services due in large part to your unwillingness to stand up like a man to the failed policies of your government. Your political career Mr. Pinder will be short lived as it rightfully should be.
Where was this bag of hot air when government was growing by leaps and bounds as he served as Minister of State for Finance? Same goes for James Smith! These two pseudo-economists were incapable of doing anything but tow the government of the day's line for their own benefit....both lacked the testicular fortitude necessary when they were responsible to the Bahamian people for guiding and directing the country's economic and fiscal policies! These old farts really should keep quiet or step up to the plate and bear great responsibility for the state of our country's finances today.
