What we all really want is a competent Minister of Finance capable of getting and giving us the facts rather than preferring to engage in mere conjecture and speculation in an effort to score cheap political points based on his own personal suspicions that aren't worth a hill of beans in a court of law or the court of public opinion.
Brent Symonette should never have been appointed a cabinet minister. Minnis will not get off lightly for this serious error in judgement. The same applies for Minnis's appointment of Carl Bethel as AG.
Not according to the average astronaut who has orbited our planet...nearly all of them say the Bahamas is the most picturesque and ideallic site on earth as viewed from miles up in space.
This is a red hot political potato for the Minnis-led FNM government. No, it is even much more than that. For Minnis it's a politically deadly grenade in his hand with the pin pulled! D'Aguilar would be a total fool to agree to anything put to him by the numbers bosses behind closed doors without widespread public consultation through the media. The same applies to Minnis. During his election campaigning Minnis promised the voters time and time again that his government would set the gold standard for transparency. Of course we all know the modus operandi of Sebas Bastian has always been to bribe government officials whenever he can behind closed doors to protect or expand his criminal enterprises. Here's where we find out just what type of men D'Aguilar and Minnis truly are. Let's hope they remember it's the people's time!
Now we know why both Davis and Hanna-Martin are vying for the leadership of the PLP. They know whichever party holds power at the time of an official devaluation of the Bahamian dollar will bear the brunt of (and pay a dear political price for) the economic upheaval, public outrage and massive civil unrest. The average D- educated voter will only know and be concerned with one thing when they next go to the polls: *"The devaluation of my money happened under the FNM's watch; it didn't happen under the PLP's watch!"*
As painful as it may be, Minnis and K P Turnquest must now do their utmost to turn our country away from the lending teat ("tit") constantly being put to its lips by the insidious international agencies like the IMF, IDB et al. whose hideous agenda is diametrically opposed to the interests of all Bahamians.
