Mudda_sic is right and you're dead wrong. Take number two for example. Harvey Tynes QC has already pointed out that a foreign man should not be able to acquire Bahamian citizenship and the right to vote just by marrying a Bahamian woman. This grave mistake would only serve to amplify the serious mistake that already exists in our constitution whereby a foreign women marrying a Bahamian man automatically acquires Bahamian citizenship. The act of marriage should not be synonymous with obtaining citizenship and voting rights. These are two very different things and two wrongs certainly do not make a right. If anything, our constitution should be amended to remove the original mistake so that a woman does not automatically acquires citizenship and voting rights upon marrying a Bahamian man. The other three proposed amendments all carrying equally serious unfavourable consequences for our country and the way of life of Bahamians. Like Mudda_take_sic, I am compelled to vote "NO" for all four of the proposed amendments and you would be wise to do likewise.
Any banker who extends credit facilities to Sir Snake or his wife deserves the massive credit loss provisions that will eventually follow. Sir Snake has swindled more foreign investors, local banks and Bahamian property owners then virtually anyone else in our country today. And he's not a smart or shrewd businessman at all; quite the contrary, he's a con artist and bully rolled up in one (the worse kind) who is willing to spend some of ill-gotten gains to buy political favours and protection from our legal system. Yes, he does throw the occasional bone to a charitable organization, usually for the benefit of younger members of our society; but only because he believes it will help paint over his unsavoury character, especially in the eyes of those who don't know much about Sir Snake's legacy of dastardly deeds.
And this man Leslie Miller was the front man who received (with the help of Paul McWeeney and Perry Christie) mega millions of unsecured overdraft advances from Bank of The Bahamas (BoB) for the benefit of himself and other PLP big wigs, leaving it for Bahamian taxpayers and National Insurance fund contributors to bear the losses incurred by BoB as a result of Miller's failure and inability to repay the amounts he borrowed. Then, to add insult to injury, Perry Christie keeps Miller on the public payroll at public corporations at an exorbitant salary so he can throw an occasional bone to BoB that doesn't even dent the millions of dollars of interest accrued and accruing on his unpaid borrowings. Yes, to the likes of Christie, Miller and others like them, all is fair in politics, even the royal financial screwing they give the Bahamian people!
That's because the FNM party thanks to Hubbigity and Minnis is no longer relevant to politics in our country and those who believe otherwise are delusional. The death knell for the FNM tolled long ago but the politically deaf (i.e. the suffering eternal optimists) never heard it!
You sound very much like a frustrated Bahamian lesbian who wants to marry her foreign girl friend who has three foreign adopted children so that they can all become Bahamian and move to the Bahamas to live with you happily ever after. Trouble is, our country just doesn't have the room or the jobs to accommodate the many thousands who will be brought to our shores by many like you. There are way too many Bahamians suffering in our country as it is, and we simply cannot afford for this suffering to be exacerbated by these proposed changes to our constitution. Hopefully the vast majority of Bahamian voters will have enough sense to vote "NO" to each of the four proposed amendments.
Mudda_take_sic is right and I'm an expert on our country's Constitution with 'Sir' before my name and 'QC' after it, not that that means much anymore these days.
Repost - The fact that only Sidney Collie and Rodney Moncur were in the running for the chairmanship of the FNM party, and that the party's central council members would even consider accepting either one of these two losers for that position, speaks volumes about the shambles that pig headed Hubiggity left the party in when the voters forced him to go "cut bait". Like Poodling and Vomit, Hubiggity was so fearful of political competition within his own party and the likelihood of his many weaknesses and shenanigans being exposed that he simply refused to identify and nurture a competent successor to himself; one who would serve the interests of all of the Bahamian people well, not just party supporters. The true test of any political leader is their willingness and ability to plan for their succession by someone who possesses all of the core competencies to win elections, run a government well and serve the best interests of the people. On this front Poodling failed, Christie is clearly failing, and Hubbigity failed miserably. Yes, the FNM party is indeed now history and the last person leaving the party's headquarters after the next general election will need to turn the lights off for good. Such is the legacy of Hubbigity and such will be the legacy of Christie with respect to the PLP party if he does not soon identify and nurture a competent successor to himself - someone not presently in his cabinet of corrupt morons and looney tunes.
