It's bigger than the refunds. Just read the article again and hear the prescient words from the bishop Gomez: he is spot and and pretty much indicating that the ensuing lawsuit WILL damage the diocese financially, all because of a brash and unwise decision by someone whose position requires reserved judgment and methodical execution. Now the school and the church are faced with real legal exposure and it will effect operations. And I think Bishop Gomez too is reaching out to the parents and the attorney Galanos NOT to take this to court for the sake of the school and more importantly, the Church. I would not be surprised if there aren't urgings for Gomez to intercede. And any reasonably thinking person could have seen what was at stake here and try to out this flame. It's all fine talk about the rude children and the need to punish them ALL for what they apparently did. So now every employer in this country knows that the class of 2013 from SJC are a rotten bunch because that's the image we are left with. So there goes scholarships, there goes apprenticeships, there goes the whole lot's future. That can't be fair. And the dollar value placed on that will be premium by the parents. This is really madness. The first thing that needs to happen is a conciliatory voice reaching out to the parents. Hopefully, Bishop Gomez has initiated this process.
Hey, the last time I checked, St John's College was just that, not a Church and is governed by a board of directors. Second, The Bahamas does not have an official religion. In fact, Anglicans is not even the majority religion and further, the students who go there at St. John's, are not all Anglicans. Even if you dismiss all of that, one can have a lawsuit against the Crown. As a matter of fact using your logic, if the school by extension is a church and the church is headed by the bishop who is representative of the queen, then so is the government: here as well as in Great Britain. Both represent the queen. Now, tell me good sir, how many times both governments have been successfully sued--hint, you can google the answer.
It's already happened and it is gonna be more than the refund of $300 sjc will pay. What's worse is the subsequent alumni response to this. What makes you so certain of the legal outcome. Maybe 40 years ago this kind of totalitarian monster would be fed, nowadays, people power is in effect. Or have you not noticed that these would-be esteemed institutions are built upon shakable foundations?
To your more substantial point, your acceptance of Christ DOES give you eternal life. Yes you still have a physical death (the flesh is not eternal), but what IS taken away is the sting of Death as it relates to your soul--I am guessing you know this too, perhaps better than I do. And so we live with the blessed hope of Renewal and Everlasting life--and I know you know that too
No ad hominem necessary, it doesn't suit you. I actually like some of your posts, but you Are being double-minded now. The point is, I am my brother's keeper but not his sacrifice for his transgressions. I know you know this but I am guessing you want the last word and think it clever to do so.

That would hardly be momentous. Nothing beats a Church wedding. And to suggest otherwise is buffoonery
