I have a feeling that government is looking for a suitable family member to force on Toby to be a 'Bahamian' partner. In case black Bahamians are unaware of this practice... it happens **a lot**! No matter how long your family has been in The Bahamas, if you are too white and the project is too attractive, then you need a 'business partner' in order to get approval.
We just can't shake our African roots. "Don't worry about tomorrow - we'll deal with that then." "We have no food, our children are starving. Ah, the UN just delivered rice... let's have more children."

The US provide the majority of our major health care. They provide the majority of our food and retail items. They provide a significant chunk of our tourists, either as individuals or by air services. They provide a significant portion of our ability to ship in goods. If Florida alone turned their backs to us our cost of living would double while our economy would shrink. We are not... at all... independent.
