Please note..."This is in addition to other increases that are proposed under the industrial agreement, according to State Minister for Public Service Pia Glover-Rolle."
She doesn't state anywhere that these are the bottom paid workers. In fact, she said that this is for every level of worker. AND it's in addition to other increases outside of minimum wage - which is mandatory.
We simply can't afford to keep the number of government workers we currently have on the payroll, let alone give 2,000 of them an increase. As Bahamianson said (above) - where is this money coming from?
I would like to see China re-open the British Colonial Hotel. We never hear anything about it's reopening. Is the plan to keep it closed until The Bahamas gives them something in return?
If government had the sense to go to the table first then this embarrassment could have been avoided. Too bad this new day government don't think so good.
PLP has only done what's best for themselves. They preach about looking out for the poor man but everything they do hurts the poor man. VAT on breadbasket items and on medicine. They are cruel, greedy and corrupt. Always have been and it looks like they alway will be. The only group of people the PLP care about are rich black folk who share their wealth with the party. When that group wasn't big enough for their greed they made more rich black men by legitimizing their illegal activities. There are only a few dozen people that the PLP look out for and you're not one of them!!!
Richard Johnson still backs Dr. Minnis like that? Damn! Does he live under a rock? Does he not speak to or hear the opinions of the vast majority of Bahamians? Mr. Johnson let me be very clear... only a handful of people want to see Dr. Minnis as leader of anything again. He may well be a very nice guy (like Brave is also supposedly, I've never met Brave) but Minnis (and Brave) should not be running a country - that is not their strength.
The best way to save all Bahamians money is for Government to rightsize the public sector. Oh... and to stop adding $10million dollars to every contract for a kickback. Once they stop tiefing they can lower VAT, duty and our debt. win! win! win!!!
Oh Birdie. You do realized that when the ship sinks everyone is getting wet. Do you really think Brave is going to let you on his 2-man life-raft and share his loot? Please think about the Bahamas as a whole - not in yellow and red.
