Unfortunately what the world needs now is a war. Hard to say but the basic truth is that with the global economy slowing down dramatically, most countries will have to go further into debt in order to support those who have no opportunity for employment. A different sort of collapse is coming and it is caused by overpopulation. Unfortunately, most countries are overpopulated so there is nowhere for economic refugees to go too. No country needs additional labour.
Unfortunately, down sizing government is the obvious solution at the moment. We all know that we can run the country just fine with 50% less more workers. This will also help us manage our bloated unfunded pension plan going forward as there will be less workers in the plan. However, without real growth in our country these people will have nothing to do and won't be contributing to NIB or our economy in any significant way. We basically have government employing 10's of thousands of unnecessary people in order to keep our economy chugging along. We are knowingly spending more money than we have in the hopes of some growth in the future. We have become a welfare state. This will all collapse under its own weight at some point.
In all this though, I bet the men and women of Haiti are still focused heavily on having more children. I would seriously like to know the thinking and rationale behind poor, desperate people being hell bent on reproducing. Not just Haitians but world wide. Is it pure ignorance? Is it religious beliefs? Boredom? Is it a positive outlook for the future? I don't see homeless people in the U.S. and Canada squirting out babies every year even though it may be to their advantage (i.e. to get free housing, food stamps etc.). I'm truly amazed by this.
Lol! What an argument! In short... screw the country and the environment so poor people won't have to purchase 25 cent bags! AND... don't do anything until Florida does it! AND, AND... in the same sentence talk about OBAN and dredging our cruise port!! Wow! D- for logic and structure.
Chester says it's too soon. LOL! He's embarrassing himself just for the sake of arguing. Chester.... it's better to be quiet than to argue against a good idea. This ban has been talked about for most of this year... maybe even from last year. We are not the first country to do it either.
Our roads and settlements need to be laid out better, especially in Abaco, to allow for easier, direct access in case of emergency. Channels and burns need to be put in place to help direct water and debris flow into low areas. This will help protect homes from getting damaged in the initial storm surge. If we do build on stilts then protecting the stilts from debris is even more vital.
