i remember when Obed won the title..great achievement but sadly not valued. the olympic folks got money and accolade after accolade, but nothing for Obed. i guess you need to be a politician. so sad..
Request promotions.. hmm, new one for me. i always thought promotions occurred when there existed a bonafide need and the individual is considered suitable. must be another one of those outrageous clauses that gov't and gov't corporation unions get. my god..
since we can go so long with just an actor in this position, suggests to me that there is good reason to question if we need such a position at all, especially since they say we are broke and the system seems to be functioning as it always has notwithstanding the current circumstances...
while this may be a legitimate accident, there is no doubt in my mind that an objective investigation would uncover glaring deficiencies ranging from the adequacy and currency of the the regulations, to oversight, enforcement, training and certification, emergency response procedures, etc., etc. All 3rd world countries are good at saying what is wrong AFTER things happen but seemingly impotent to proactively institute requirements that would prevent or at least mitigate the impact when things do inevitably go wrong.
doesn't take very much to declare ones self a 'consultant' does it? .. the late Paul Adderley (Cambridge graduate) used to say that word is nothing more than a euphenism for ' influence peddler'
Firstly condolences to family of the deceased and wishes for a speedy and complete recovery to the injured. I just hope negligence is not a factor. The Americans will want answers and we dont need any bad press but we all know there is no enforcement of rules and standards here. it happens with the aircraft operators and i would guess its even worse with the boat operators.
i can imagine the anguish over the loss as i have kids of my own. However reality is whether driving on Bay Street, Paradise Island bridge or any where else, the driver is ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle.. like they say, exercise caution and care. hope the courts exercise good judgment so we dont become a litigous society like the US. 0nly persons who benefit from that are the lawyers.
the penalties are too mild in my view. terrorists should get the death penalty whether you plan it, execute it or provide support in any way, shape or form. we may not agree with or like everything governments do, but thats the way some kind of order is maintained. indiscriminate killing of innocent people solves nothing.
