I've never heard this guy being concerned about the zillions of foreigners we have hear draining our resources before now. Tens of thousands of Bahamians are out of work because they cannot support their families on $40 a day and sustain a sub-human living standard. Those who can, compete and take their jobs from them. This has been going on for decades.

Now that the influx of foreigners may affect HIS business, he has waken up to the existence of them.

Hopefully he will use his vast resources to guide Government in a Pro-Bahamian direction with this new Immigration Law they are currently proposing. So far, the rumors are implying that Brent plans to give the entire country away wholesale and at a 99% off discount.

TheMadHatter says...

Mr Smith, who has clashed with successive administrations on various immigration policies, said the country’s laws need amending to reflect the modern issues challenging migrants, refugees, government and society.

LOL. Notice that "society" is NUMBER 4 on his list. His priorities are clear. I wonder if he is receiving funding from George Soros?

TheMadHatter says...

Well it's all in Carl Bethel's hands now. Hopefully he will have an Ace up his sleeve at Appleals Court.

At the same time, we're not hearing anything about a referendum. If they do one, hopefully they will do it on the ONE subject and not toss out a plethora of nonsense like they have done two out of the last three times.

1. Does birth alone grant citizenship?

2. If born here and only one parent is Bahamian, is the child required to give up his other citizenship (if possible) before the age of 20?

3. If born here out of wedlock, should the child and mother be deported within 3 months?

4. If within a marriage and neither parent has any status should all three be deported within 3 months?

5. Should Fred Smith be amoung those on the first charter flight? Yeah, enshrine his name in the Constitution for a few decades...LOL

Of course wording has to be exact and reference which section/s are to be amended.

This needs to be done asap. Long before June.

They will have to wait until Monday to get their Bahamian passports, unless they "call the Minister."

Why don't we just hire a small cruise ship - lease it for one year and run continuous trips back and forth to Haiti - bringing Haitians here?

Clearly there is no point in trying to get rid of them. You have too many liberal cry babies making noise.

Some people only learn the hard way....so the Government should provide free transportation (we already do from Exuma to Nassau) - from Haiti to Nassau and import at least 150,000 between now and Halloween.

The churches can take up collection and provide mattresses, church space, tents, plywood, food, water, and Halloween candy for all of them along with the current set.

In Haiti, they won't even be missed because 150 thousand is only one point three percent of their population.

The Haitian Government can then make a video and send us a slight variation on the old Doritos potato chip commercial with Jay Leno..."Crunch all you want, We'll make more."

Good points. What we should also do is send ten staff from Min of Health to live in Haiti for 2 months and learn how to survive and indeed maintain a population of 12 million while faced with every sanitary obstacle and nutrient shortage. When they return they can give ongoing seminars teaching their fellow Bahamians how to prepare for our politically-correct, "multi-cultural" future.

On Parents panic at TB report

"Dr Sands said preliminary results of recent screening at Garvin Tynes indicate that 38 students have tested negative; 46 teachers have been tested with two positive, 40 negative and two results not yet read; 12 parents tested with one positive, 10 negative and one not yet read; and 22 in administration and support staff tested with three positive."

Doing the math there, I get a potential 9 (NINE) persons who either do or may have TB. (2 positive and 2 no-result in the teachers group, 1 positive & 1 no-result in the parents group, 3 positive in the admin group). The total number in that sampling group is 38+46+12 = 95
AND 9 out of 95 = 9.5% or approximately 10%.
You must also use caution in that "parents" group - because you know sometimes it is not "possible" to actually get in touch with some of them (LOL).

If 10% of a population have TB (tuberculosis) - that is a serious problem in my opinion.

The simple fact though is that not enough people have died of TB (yet) and not enough people have been shot dead by bullets (yet) and not enough travel warnings have been issued (yet).

Stay tuned though. There is only so long that people can do fool, before the fruits of their "labour" are ready to eat, and the sour taste is impossible to ignore. In Abaco, government is already busy actively removing the "rubble" from the fire - so that there will be nothing standing in the way of renewed fresh building activity. If YOUR house should burn down, will government send a free tractor to clear your rubble?

Like people always say ... "Read the fine print."

The article says at the end ... "The preference share issue is a private placement targeted at specific institutional investors and high net worth individuals. Members of the public should not seek to become involved."

lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

as always - If you are just an ordinary Bahamian (referred to here as "members of the public") you can go suck your teeth. Too bad for you. Some people gonna be collecting interest as high as 8% - but guess what ????????????????????????? it won"t be you.

Shut ya mouth and wait another 4 1/2 years and ink your finger and cast your vote for one of the same old two Parties and carry on with ya job or ya business and pay ya taxes. But most importantly, shut ya mouth and stop believing that you are an actual member of this society.

The metal shackle is still on your ankle - they just make them invisible and very lightweight in these "modern" times.

After reading (and understanding) this article, any ordinary Bahamian who switches to Aliv has got to be a (censored).

TheMadHatter says...

The article says that the Federation of Retailers said ""Why is this government so determined to execute bad policy when, if it wants to give relief to Bahamians, they have been told over and over again that the smart way to do that is to further lower duty, eliminate or greatly reduce Business License fees and tackle energy costs head on. Those policy reforms would actually help reduce the cost of living in the Bahamas."

The Hatter says ... exactly correct.

However, the Federation fails to realize that the administration's proposed action does indeed suit its true goals. They are publicly stating that their goal is to help the lower income communities etc. - BUT what they don't say is that they know full well the nationality of the community they will be helping - and we all have great suspicions as to how exactly some of these "Bahamians" came to "become" Bahamians.

People who live in gated communities don't need to worry about ordinary Bahamians. They just need to ensure that the ballot count comes out good on election day - and clearly they are working full steam ahead on that goal. Laying a soft downy path of excuses before their feet as they trod.

Bahamians (generally speaking) at the same time don't care either, as long as they can get their yard mow "for cheap", Satan himself can have their country. They consider that a fair exchange.
