PM Minnis needs to follow Trump and pull out of this U.N. nonsense.

Wrong Raine. There should be some sectors reserved for Bahamians....the only problem in low service level is caused by monopoly ownership and inability of Bahamians to get a business license in the sectors controlled by the overlords.

See if you can get a liquor license to sell beer etc in your take-out restaurant. You can't. But every Chinese selling liquor and beedies.

Bogart do not worry. I am a supporter of this Bill but rest assured the people are never going to live out another 5 years on promises. I predicted in August that if this govt does not provide enough positive reality for both the regular folks in this country (who simply live based on their wallet and their feelings) and also convince political watchdogs like us that we are on the right track then there will be a march and shutdown by May. Two weeks later i was told that a well known former MP had predicted March.

I am certain that the govt is well aware that the pressure is on and that is why they are doing so many things so quickly. KP is off on a trip to San Marino in a few days. They working on Lucaya. New cruise line signed. Dump contract under way. Lots of stuff and dealing with giant debt and old generators and Clifton oil leak.

So far i am encouraged. I am not an FNM but i hope he does well because i am a Bahamian.

Very interesting. Would need to know more of the internal politics there to speak to this. Hopefully it is for the best. There is no doubt our power bills are too high. Something needs to be done to remedy this. Don't know if this will help or hurt in that regard. Let us hope it is the right thing, of course, for all Bahamians who are currently suffering very very very very terribly due to high electricity costs which effects the cost of grocery etc etc etc.

Don't worry about it union leaders. While I support and defend the need for unions in many areas of our Bahamian employment arena (Bahamians do suffer at the hands of unscrupulous employers daily) - in these particular sectors delineated in this Act you won't have to worry about the pay grades etc for Bahamians. No employees there are going to join your union. They will have no incentive. Relax. KP & Brent got this one well in hand at the Investments Board level.

I've heard that scientists have in recent years discovered several planets in far away solar systems that they believe have similar environmental conditions - oxygen, temperature, etc - to our Earth.

Is there any way that we can find a way to ship Joseph Darville off to one of them?

As I've said repeatedly, as long as people keep avoiding family planning and allowing the churches to preach "be fruitful and multiply" - then we as humans are going to require more land, water, places to dispose of garbage, sewerage, etc. in order to live. The environment will suffer. These environmental people are trying to cure the cold by stuffing corks up people's noses. That is not the way to cure the cold. You must attack the bacterial source directly. Family planning is the answer to the dreams of these environmental "enthusiasts".

I'm here thinking perhaps Government should repeal this Act of Law and send out a notice to ALL international travel agents, airports from which planes originate to fly here, and all of our Bahamas based hotel parent companies informing them in writing, along with placing a very large sign near the runways at all airports in the Bahamas, and writing on the runway tarmac in large letters visible from space satellites (so that it will receive CNN coverage) the words:

no foreigners allowed
(except Haitians)

This is clearly the policy that the Bahamian people want implemented. Stop ALL foreign tourists (and i don't know any other kind) from visiting the Bahamas, kick out ALL foreigners employed here, except Haitians - and hand out fresh newly minted passports for any and all persons of Haitian descent that present themselves with or without documentation to their nearest Dept of Immigration office.

Bahamian Families can take up collection at church to help pay their children's college fees abroad and hope they can get residency abroad and achieve "opportunity" there.

Mr. Symonette, please apologize, repent to God, and resign your office. You are wasting time trying to convince most people. Even re-listing specifically the industries related, has had no effect. Spend the rest of your life on the street speaking with telephone poles - it will be more effective Sir, and the poles will be more attentive to your words.

TheMadHatter says...

Yeah....we really need to be worried about losing potential investment dollars from Haiti and Jamaica. LOL

Amazing how these Intnl organizations have no concern for Bahamians languishing in "unusual" circumstances in Fox Hill.

When the PM starts up in January im sure he has been advised there will likely be many more police cars turned over and set on fire than previously were on Kemp Road.

The trick for Minnis will be simply to not give up no matter what happens. If he stops forward motion this time theno no prime minister including him will EVER be able to convince the people that our military will support citizens.

Why not just continue to pay for it from the Consolidated Fund?

That is an amazing fund of which nobody knows how much goes in, from where, how much goes out, to where, and how much is in it at any given time.

If i had a fund like that at my disposal i would use it for all kinds of stuff. My car needs new tires by the way.

Use the Consolidated Fund. Nobody will know and nobody will care. Especially noting there is no foia.

lol. lol. lol.
