Will they add a section which allows people running for leader and other offices within the Party to be able to speak to the delegates BEFORE the delegates vote and even be allowed to know who the Hell the delegates are at least 6 months before convention?
Once again - another good move by the PM. As a DNA, every other day now it pains me (a little bit) to have something good to say about the FNM. But as a patriot (and a DNA), I am delighted to see every good move they make which help our Bahamas.
I am sure my fellow DNA's would be happy to sit on the sidelines - out of government - and watch Minnis lead our country to success and new heights. Heck - that's the easy way to do it. Being in government, making touch decisions is hard. Nice for someone else to do it and you reap the benefits. I hope he keeps up the good work.
We need to cut expenses, or else our currency will be devalued - and this is one thing that will help. Every little bit helps, and I applaud this move.
With that deadline you can be assured that 60,000 Haitian count will grow to around 450,000 by then.
Their goal is world domination via a global breeding war - which they are winning. Did i say "global"? Yes, global. Check out the Facebook page called "Haitians Everywhere".
There is no poverty in Haiti. The situation there is simple. It is like if you were going throw a birthday party and bought beef patties to bbq and other food and drinks to entertain your 50 guests. On the celebration day 375 people showed up unexpectedly. Would you have enough food and drink for everyone? Of couse not.
That is the situation in Haiti. Traveling via the vaginal canal, too many birthday guests keep "showing up".
While i do indeed question the extent of the patriotism of Mr Smith, i do believe that the request by Rights Bahamas for the names of those being held should be honored.
In fact, i have long believed (since i was in the CDR) that our very stupid parliamentary channel which just repeats over and over and over the birthday wishes and funeral announcements whenever Parliament is not in session could be used to give out useful and sensible information to the people.
One type of info could be a scrolling list of names, dates of admission, and upcoming date of hearing, trial or release of every prisoner at Fox Hill and the detention center and every police station. It is well known that people get "lost" in these systems. Remember the Japanese guy who was held in prison for 14 years because they could not find a translator. I guess we had not a single Japanese tourist visit the country who held an ounce of human compassion during that decade plus time period.
PM Minnis's overall point is correct. a big problem in our government (having worked for several years as an officer in the Churchill building), is the INSANE and wrongful distribution of salaries. It is horrible.
The problem is real and he is right that it needs to be addressed, including for MPs. however his timing is simply off. Budget stuff doesn't start until July. So this subject could have been left alone right now. It's not the right time to bring it up while people sleeping in their cars and Christmas coming.
Dr. Minnis, respectfully, if you would like to have a patriotic and hard working adviser to work with you to edit press releases and things to go or not go out to the public - i would be happy to help in the interest of making our country better. I did not support you in the election and actually worked hard to prevent you from winning....but you are MY prime minister - as a Bahamian - and as such your success would mean success for every Bahamian including me. Im sure the Tribune would give your secretary my contact if he asked them.
Much like Trump, you are doing the right things - but the good news is being drowned out by the shouting of the bad news...and much of the bad news lies at the feet of the previous admin.
I wonder where "Rights Bahamas" has been for, say, the past decade while Bahamians held at Fox Hill Prison are given rusty water to drink even on remand, are held in remand for months waiting a court date, the men have salt petre put in their food to try and prevent da goosy, cells are terribly overcrowded with men lying on hard cement floor to sleep like sardines in a can, prisoners using bucket for toilet and guards having to wear rubber boots to prevent it from getting on their feet, the frequent ambulance visits to take prisoners to see proctologists, the food without nutritional value, the lack of air ventilation, the slopping outside of the toilet buckets, the beatings, the solitary confinements, and i could go on.
I guess "human rights" don't apply to Bahamians in their own country - or perhaps none of the above has ever come to the attention of this fledgling activist group.
Also where are their press releases about the horrible situations in Haiti and what should be done there to help those poor Haitians? Why don't they care about them? Why don't they send some members down there to educate and help Haitians in Haiti itself? Why don't they investigate and find out why every Haitian female who lands on our shores by boat is already pregnant on the boat? Do you have to be pregnant to buy your ticket?
Haitians need help and i hope and pray that they all will receive the help they need. They are human beings and should be treated with dignity and respect and be shown how to prosper and obtain all the good things that life has to offer. But at the same time they should not be encouraged and facilitated to invade the Bahamas and steal our country from us by a breeding war.
Bogart they are trying to "sell" this bill by saying it will allow banks to release some of their overflow of liquidity. That is true, but it will also help the public by detering banks from lending to persons who have low credit ratings....which is good to help persons not drown in debt via the associated 18% interest.
Right now, if you are working and your company will do salary assignment ... then banks will lend to you...which is wrong. They are taking advantage of the poor man and have no fear or concern about whether the lender can truly pay back the loan because they know they have big shot lawyers who will put you in court.
What is needed as companion legislation to this bill is a Bankruptcy Act where persons can declare bankruptcy every 7 years like they have in the USA if the person is truly bankrupt and have all their debts wiped clean by the court.
Only then will these banks stop their predatory lending practices.
That Smith has said that Minnis is worse than Mitchell only means to me that Minnis is doing the right thing.
Please do not back down Mr Prime Minister. We are with you Sir.
I have said before that i would actually support allowing ALL Haitians to come here as long as all of them come. Dont leave a single one in Haiti and they agree to never return there. Hand the country of Haiti over to Bahamians and we give them ours. That would be great for us because all their land is connected together, unlike our islands.
Bahamians would turn that country into a paradise, tourism magnet, shipping & manufacturing & technology center.
Guaranteed if that happened, in less than 5 years the boats would be heading south filled with muscular men and pregnant women "looking for a better life."
